I've been playing the accordion more and more and I found this old tutorial booklet. Most of the songs there don't particularly interest me (I mostly play pop and trad music by the ear) but I noticed one sheet music that indirectly caused me to realize there is a set of non-filthy lyrics for a raunchy song that's been playing in my head for ages

I need to come up with my own lyrics, though, since I'm not really from Karelia. Would feel like a poser singing that

I also can play Säkkijärven polkka with some success, and THAT is also Karelian. Jeez, I really need to focus my efforts westward

It's a Karelian folk polka about sneaking out to party with Ieva (Karelian variation of the name Eeva, related to English name "Eve" or "Eva") who has tricked her protective mother in order to get to the festivities

@trogdor Every time you see the leek it is because of Miku.

Going home after the party Ieva's mom catches the narrator and Ieva, Ieva starts to cry and the narrator tells the mother to buzz off

The fun thing is, the song (outside the scat singing portion commonly featured in memes) is pretty direct. The narrator straight-out threatens Ieva's mom with violence if she doesn't get off their case

"You'll keep your good health if you buzz off and go back to sleep in your hut", roughly.

@kviiri Sorry, not clear enough. What I mean is that by now there is a direct connection between the leek and Miku. Or to be more precise a green onion/negi since that is not a leek in the first place

@SPArcheon I'd expect that everyone who knows Ievan polkka knows about leekspin (leek notwithstanding). It's usually the reverse that's problematic: leekspin people knowing about Ievan polkka, and that there's actual lyrics, and that the part of the song featured in leekspin is ephemeral.

@SPArcheon That's... very misleading, leeks and scallions and green onions are much easier to differentiate IRL because of their relative sizes.

I've actually spent a big chunk of today trying to think of good Finnish accordion music that is not Karelian

The problem is, while many of these tunes are well-integrated into the Finnish music culture in general, I find somewhat uncomfortable singing about how awesome Karelia is when actual Karelians are a linguistic minority whose native language almost died out due to sad aftermaths of WWII
