@kviiri I get a bit of an impression that it might be more cynical than I typically enjoy, but if that's the case when I start playing it then I can just drop it and lose nothing
I didn't pay for the copy of the game myself XD
hopefully the game has some kind of option of playing in some kind of optimistic way at all XD

If it's really post-communist then cynicism and gloom are exactly right :P

@AndrasDeak 'Post-communist' seems unlikely. But even without the 'post', the gloom fits. There's this joke that supposedly goes a generation or two before the collapse of socialism, something like this: 'Comrade, have we reached communism yet? - No, comrade, not yet; you will recognise it instantly, it is gonna get even worse than now.'

@vicky_molokh-unsilenceMonica it actually is, at least by my basic understanding

@kviiri I'm unsure what you mean: are you referring to the setting's history in Disco Elysium, or to the real-world Estonia and other socialist republics and satellites thereof?

The former
Though I've only played for a few hours and don't want to spoil anything

@vicky_molokh-unsilenceMonica and the entirety of Radio Yerevan jokes

@kviiri If that's actually the case, that's some interesting worldbuilding choice. But also in that case I'm no longer confident in drawing parallels with the attitudes of the Baltic states, since that would make the situations drastically different between the two.
