11:02 AM
I have attended many all-nighter LAN parties in my time
I am not a morning person

2 hours later…
1:17 PM
@doppelgreener Could you please change your name to doppelgranger? Otherwise my joke won't work because of some "annoying meddling users". :P
(note: obviously, this is a joke too)

1:33 PM
too late, it's already been oneboxed

1 hour later…
2:49 PM
@Yuuki "Alexa, turn on all the lightsabers."
[distant explosions and yelling heard]

be grateful that you don't browse a certain famous twitter account about IoT mishaps...
thanks to that, I discovered that Alexa-enabled showerheads exist.

the iot shouldn't exist

3:16 PM
hello

3:28 PM
/me waves

3:56 PM
o/

@Derpy The other problem is that it's annoying to avoid certain IoT devices.
It's actually a struggle to find a large-screen high-def TV that isn't a "smart" TV.
Once you get into the pricier high-end electronics, IoT capability is so cheap in comparison to the more expensive components that every manufacturer throws them in to pad the specs.

@Yuuki you are talking to a walking anachronism that still hates wifi connections with the intensity of a thousand suns.

I'm honestly tempted to get a projector instead of a TV.
The lighting situation is in my house is pretty meh so it could conceivably work.

4:49 PM
@Derpy what why

@Ash Probably shower radios.

5:09 PM
@Ash Alexa, uhhhh close your eyes I'm getting in. And stop listening to my singing!

5:42 PM
gonna make a catchy song with a chorus of "alexa order fifty chippies, alexa confirm order”

6:07 PM
XD

user15026
@doppelgreener snortgiggles I approve.

7:33 PM
@KorvinStarmast NP. Any reliable scuttlebutt on the cause of the Ukranian jet (out of Tehran) crashing? I don't know enough to sift "enlightened conjecture" from SWAG.

@nitsua60 Probably something to take to NAB.

user15026
7:50 PM
@nitsua60 I know in This is Fine over on Arqade, they're discussing it currently

@Ash I think this borders on politics/current events that would probably be better in NAB

user15026
@NautArch nods Makes sense to me, is why I suggested TIF instead :) I can pop into NAB as well

8:06 PM
@nitsua60 I am holding my conclusions, but Canadian PM just jumped on board the "accidental missile attack" bandwagon, and there is a video (allegedly from near the crassh" that if you watch frame by frame seems to correlate to that.
I will get you a link.
But it may have been taken down? Saw it earlier, and since I do not know its provenance, I can conclude nothing.

Telegram is an instant messaging app: I watched the video about an hour ago, but now it appears to be unreachable.
@Rubiksmoose Thanks for the move, good call

@KorvinStarmast Not a problem! Sorry for cutting you off there.

@nitsua60 This is that video on Twitter
Commentary on that video from [a semi credible source](https://www.pprune.org/showthread.php?p=10658315):
"There is no way for me to verify the video; i.e. who knows when and where it was taken.
However, as someone with 153 combat missions over North Viet Nam back in the day, I've seen countless SA-2 missiles launched and more than a few of them hitting aircraft. From what I see when using the slider to slow down the video, I'd bet my house that it shows a SAM of some kind killing an aircraft of some kind. It looks just like the SAMs I saw in Viet Nam. Could it be the Ukrainian aircraft? I
ANyway, if that's what happened what a horrific mistake. Happened at about 0615 local time in Tehran. I wonder if that was during a shift change at the nearby IRGC post/base?
but, as another observer notes ...
"No question about that, but the video could have been taken in Gaza, Syria or Libya, the street scene suggests more one of these places rather than the outskirts of Teheran."
So grains of salt needed.
The quote from "there is no way" to "not surprised at all" is not me, but the source I am quoting.
@nitsua60 also, take a look at this picture, it tries to show that if you take off to the northwest from Tehran airport, you fly on a standard departure and it heads roughly towards a well established IRGC base/station; there is a turn to the north west on the departure (which would help any airliner NOT overfly that government installation ...)
@nitsua60 The departure plate is depicted here ... in other words, planes fly that departure every day. Standard departure.

@Xirema Good call--thanks.
@KorvinStarmast Interesting. So a video very likely of something being shot down is out there, but who really knows if that video's from the other day and in the location of interest.

10:01 PM
@nitsua60 There are some people who know how to do geolocation and forensic analysis, and it looks like PM Trudeau believes them enough to make a public statement. (About 60 canadian citizens on that flight)
@nitsua60 This is the kind of thing I am talking about (over the years, I have found TEEJ to be very savvy on tech matters ...)

10:26 PM
@KorvinStarmast Wow--that's insane.

10:56 PM
@KorvinStarmast edited in quotation marks to make it clear that it's a quote of someone else

11:31 PM
@V2Blast Thanks! ;)
