12:27 AM
Don't mix up definite and indefinite parts of language. "A father should take care of one's child" is a very strange thing to say haha

8 hours later…
8:28 AM
@trogdor Tamagotchi?
At the very least, the O.S.E. Watch seems to be made to look like a tamagotchi clone

8:48 AM
@Derpy ok but in Tamagotchi I never had to go out and murder robots (and possibly mutant animals or something I dunno?) gather a bunch of ingredients, destroy polution producers, and then come back and renovate it's house before feeding it XD
but also point taken
boiled down, a lot, it's kinda similar to Tamagotchi

@trogdor I will have to check how they wrote the name Toriko.
Maybe it will help understanding what they had in mind
@Medix2 Quick trivia - someone actually made a KanColle tabletop RPG
and before someone asks - nope, I never tried or read this manual
just heard it mentioned in an old discussion about the far older Teenagers From Outer Space tabletop RPG
(which was mostly based on Ranma/Urusei Yatsura)
(also, in case someone wonders this is why I mentioned KanColle)

9:43 AM
Ok, checked. They used simple katakana for the name, so it isn't quite possible to say if they had some specific meaning in mind.
Toriko could technically mean "bird child" but... I am not sure that was intentional

I mean
it seems like a slight stretch
but also I can still see the points of comparison too

10:01 AM
@trogdor what?

@Derpy for her to be intentionally named after Tomagatchi?

Teenager From Outer Space and the KanColle Rpg?

uh
I thought you meant the girl in the glass bottle in that one weird game?
you meant someone else entirely?

@trogdor oh, got it now. Nope, I was just unsure of what you meant.

ah fair enough

10:03 AM
You were talking about void Trrlm();

10:29 AM
yes
I assumed that was what you were drawing parallels to Tomagatchi with

10:47 AM
@trogdor yep, I was. But I also mentioned KanColle so I was unsure of what you were referring to.

11:04 AM
fair enough
I know nothing about KanColle but there was no way for you to know that, or that I wasn't referring to it at the time XD
so, I googled it, it's a game about warships, represented by anime girls
so that would explain why on the picture they are all walking on the water part of the map
every time I think something isn't going to surprise me too much, then it does anyway

@trogdor Oh, I just know about the series because I saw some action figures being sold at various anime con
and since Medix2 said
> There's the occasional carry-over with things like "ship" being feminine,
that came to mind

I mean, it doesn't matter how you know about it, I was just more surprised than I expected to see what it was about
XD
I mean, aside from the,... anime girl representation of the ships, apparently they put a lot of effort into the fact that these are based off of real warships
according to Wikipedia anyway

@trogdor from what I know, there are some reference, yep.

I'm kinda surprised they made a Tabletop RPG about it but then again
I can't think of specific reasons why they wouldn't if it started as a video game
or,.. branched off as one from earlier media or wtv happened
I guess I just can't get over how weird the premise is
XD

From what I see, even the dialogues try to contain actual facts. At least they put some effort to be accurate.

11:18 AM
I can respect that at least

While on the basis it is evident appeal to fanservice, it seem still a bit above some other franchises

I do like me some historical minutiae
I mean
the fanservice is definitely my main source of surprise

I was looking at the dialogues on a wikia

not the existence of it per se, but the connection of it to the ships

> I am Shimakaze, the Shimakaze-class ship that was developed as the pinnacle of destroyers, fast and armed with heavy torpedos.
After all, I can go faster than 40 knots.
However, I wasn't suited for mass production so I was the only one built.
and that... is in fact accurate, according to Wikipedia

11:20 AM
even though I should know by now that people will inject anime girl fanservice into,.... basically everything? if they can
but anyway
TIL another weird fact about our crazy world, this thing exists

@trogdor Reminder: Microsoft Asia (Japan, Taiwan, Korea ect) have a long story of actually be the one promoting personification of their OS / softwares

I will never know why it exists but it apparently does
@Derpy ok,... somehow I am less surprised by that?
I have no idea why
I mean, honestly that should also be really weird
it should
but it's not in comparison
for,............ some reason

@trogdor You ... think?
This is official.
And... yep, it is a promo.
For Internet Explorer

lol
ok you got me
also weird
in concept it didn't seem like it would be but yeah
but also, I think it's still slightly behind the,... ship girls
not by a large amount but there is a gap there
if only because this is one specific product and those are,... historical naval warships? individual ones? being given personalities and also containing what might be actual real information about individual existing ships?
definitely doesn't make this less weird though

11:37 AM
I totally expect something worse to exist.
But I also know that I won't be the one to go to the Anime chatboard to ask.
Sorry :P
I value my eyes.
And my last drops of sanity I managed to keep so far.
also....
Finally some good news.
> Due to unavoidable scheduling conflicts, the MY LITTLE PONY Live Tour has been postponed. Refunds are being issued at the point of purchase. If people purchased tickets online or by phone, they will be refunded automatically.
yep, right. Please postpone that to the end of time.
If that thing is in any way similar to their old attempt with the Equestria Girls live-action show....

@Derpy In a nutshell, what happened then/there?

let me see... how can I explain...

11:58 AM
@Derpy I would not do it so I would not ask you to :P

12:10 PM
good luck understanding who is who.
I saw better costumes being sold at supermarkets on the week before Halloween.
I kinda remember that a second, worse attempt exist. Sorry but I don't have time to look now.

Ah. I see.

@vicky_molokh therefore, if they weren't able to do some decent costumes for the human versions of the characters....
I don't have much faith in what they can do for the ponies
Not that I would go to the show in the first place, but that avoids me the risk to see pictures reposted on the web ^_^'

2 hours later…
2:44 PM
hello

evening

how are you

mumble... let me think....
"Bored" is probably the most fitting word

understandable

doing some work.
pretty boring work
to be more precise, I am now wasting 2X time to fix some bug on an app. Bugs that could have been probably avoided by spending X more time in the original development
but you know, old "fire drill" pattern
everything is an emergency so every time development time is cut to the bare minimum
Usually ends up costing MORE in the long run... but no one cares about the long run apparently :P

3:05 PM
ahh

3 hours later…
6:22 PM
Lol

6:46 PM
hello

7:08 PM
hi

@Gwideon Good evening.

how is everyone

I'm pretty good right now
how about you?

I'm pretty pleased right now. Was reading a manga that I thought was just going to be trashy, tropey fun, but then halfway through announced "hey, I've actually got some interesting, weighty, complicated themes that this series is actually going to be about!" and now that I'm caught up to the most recent chapters I'm really enjoying how it's elevated its own concept.

i'm decent. kinda anxious. I'm not really feeling the best in general

7:28 PM
@Xirema ?

@Gwideon well that sucks

7:42 PM
@Yuuki "Kaguya wants to be confessed to", it's a comedy series about two teen geniuses that are in love with each other but adamantly refuse to admit they love each other, so they keep playing mind games on each other in hopes of tricking the other into admitting their love first.

I'm so ready for this week to be over

@Xirema Oh yeah, I've heard about that one.
For some reason, comedy tends to be the best manga genre.

Mild Spoilers.

Yeah, you start reading it, and it's immediately kind of tropey/formulaic, so you don't really expect much out of it, but then suddenly like 40 chapters in it's all like "okay, we've been having fun, but you know, people who act like this in real life we'd recognize as being pretty messed up, right? Maybe we should spend some time examining their interiority and understanding why they act like this in the first place?"

And suddenly it's this thoughtful, introspective look at how romantic relationships can be really scary to enter into, especially if you're someone with seve

8:18 PM
Meanwhile, I'm reading a webcomic about a social media influencer girl dating an undead guy during the zombie apocalypse.
The undead guy is a foodie.

8:31 PM
@Gwideon it's definitely not been the best week

8:42 PM
@Yuuki there's still social media during the zomebie apocalypse? that sounds like hell
XD
I have to run from zombies and I have to still pretend like I care about 200 posts a day from people I know

user15026
@Yuuki intrigued

@Ash It's on Webtoons and I think it's called Boyfriend of the Dead.
Fair warning, there's a lot of puns.

I'm kinda checking out saber forge

As to be expected for a webcomic that I gravitated towards.

@Xirema That sounds amazing lol

9:12 PM
@Rubiksmoose It's from pretty early in the series, but these five pages capture the series' energy perfectly, IMO.
(remember that the pages have to be read ←right-to-left←, because Manga)

user15026
9:33 PM
@Yuuki I like puns.

user15026
I haven't seen the Mandalorian but I like this anyhow

9:51 PM
I like how one of the characters in this webcomic refers to potatoes as "french fry plants".

Same.

And suggests that they burn all the other crops to plant more french fry plants. Except tomatoes because they like ketchup.

2 hours later…
11:50 PM
@vicky_molokh oooh
