@Ash I enjoyed some of the later seasons but they just weren't as good.
@Gwideon I don't code, but I find it hard to do anything else while listening to music. I either focus on the music and ignore the other thing, or I focus on the other thing and tune out (heh) the music.
I do (or did) listen to a lot of soundtracks, more so than I really listen to other genres of music

Q: What does the Code of Conduct say about gender pronouns?

Catija Please leave any feedback or questions about these processes on this other post. Two weeks ago, we updated The Code of Conduct to directly address concerns over pronoun usage. We tried to anticipate likely questions, but… missed the mark a bit. Inspired by Gareth McCaughan’s excellent post...

@BESW I love this

4:50 AM
It's the best

@Yuuki She puts a lot of herself into that, without missing Dylan's point. Most covers I see don't hit both of those.
In his autobiography Dylan says that he stops singing a song if he doesn't feel the way he did when he wrote it, and can't find a new way to sing it that fits how he feels now.

5:24 AM
@Ash If I had the moneys I would shower you with physical copies of Skin Horse so you could read them all.

Is that the main issue? Reading a webcomic is bad but a physical copy makes it ok/manageable?

user15026
@BESW aw, you're the sweetest <3 I figure I will live vicariously through the bits for now and someday I will get them and read them so slowly because that's how comics go for me. Slow, slow, slow.

I had thought the format was the problem

@trogdor Comics are always hard for Ash but digital is basically impossible.

user15026
@trogdor if I hold it, I can usually use my hands and the physicalness to help me figure out focal points. It's slow, but I can manage.

5:27 AM
Aaahh ok

user15026
Comics are tricky slippery beasts, my brain doesn't know how to look and it takes the whole page all at once and then screams at how it doesn't make sense because I can't follow it

user15026
But some graphic novels have simple enough art that I can make a go of it.

So it's a little of both sort of

user15026
Yeah, the format is hard, but I can usually like manage if I have it to hold?

The format is an issue but so is it being on a screen

user15026
5:29 AM
Although trad comics still don't work either way really

Fair enough

user15026
But I think Skin Horse would, just would be a while to read it

user15026
Because the bits in isolation seem okay, the way Digger was okay or Lucy Knisley's stuff or Persopolis were okay. Just slow

Ok then
Thanks for humoring my question

user15026
No worries, I don't mind!

5:43 AM
Also Skin Horse is maybe easier than some because it's all daily strips, no splash panels or fancy full-page weirdness.

Yeah

user15026
That definitely helps.

1:21 PM
hello

1:58 PM
how is everyone

2:47 PM
We moose have a word for my current state, but it is not transcribable, so I'll just say "fine" :)
@Gwideon How about yourself? Feeling a bit more recharged today?

yeah

That is very good to hear.

3:12 PM
yeah it is
everything seems to be simmering down on meta

3:34 PM
which is good

4:12 PM
@Gwideon Arguable.

4:47 PM
Yeah, I'm keeping an eye on things at the moment. The improved FAQ (and the post taking questions about it) are getting a little bit of "but what if I just really don't want to follow the CoC?" Gish-Galloping, but it's not gotten half as bad as the last one, and it seems like the mods are being more proactive in stamping out the vitriol.

5:36 PM
wow the new faq is really clear. It seems to be received well. I think the new Faq is a lot better than the old one

@Gwideon To be fair, it's approximately a 80% carbon copy of the one that I pointed out, the remaining 20% appearing to be based on the general sentiments Aza pointed out (or similar sentiments expressed by other users), so naturally it's going to just be better.

@Xirema True but hey if it works it works.

Having said that, the post they created for soliciting feedback on the new FAQ is hovering around 0, so personally, I'm still holding my breath a bit.
At this point though, I think it's fair to say most objections to the new FAQ are just proxy for objections to the Code of Conduct changes themselves, which we already knew were a lot of users, so while troubling, it's not really new information.

@Xirema Or intertwined issues (eg Monica)

yeah. some people are just being really resistant to an arguably needed change. It's less that the old "be nice" policy didn't cover this it's more of a clarification and strengthening of SE's stance on this particular issue and pointing out that this is part of what they consider being nice
sorry

5:58 PM
@Rubiksmoose I mean, to a degree I suppose, but it does feel like people are using her as a proxy for a lot of this as well.

yeah It does

Which is unfortunate, because based on her public statements it definitely seems like she doesn't approve of people using her situation to justify transphobic rhetoric.

yeah it's kinda sad that she'll be associated with this

@Xirema Definitely.

I'm kinda just sad about all of this

6:06 PM
@Gwideon Big mood.

yeah.

6:20 PM
I feel like when things finally look like they're getting better they get worse instead.

@Gwideon often times it takes things getting worse before they get better.
doesn't make the getting worse part any easier

yeah
