lol

hey there @Ben

21 hours later…
10:15 PM
@Akixkisu FYI: comments on locked questions are not subject to normal cleanup. The question is locked, it is time capsuled and does not need further intervention barring extenuating circumstance (e.g. something rude/abusive is present). Please do not flag them.

@doppelgreener sure.

Thanks very much.

@doppelgreener does this also count for merged questions?
As they are technically locked.

Yes, it is very rare anyone even sees a merged question page because they almost always get forwarded on to the merge target
The exception is if you specifically dug that question up through search or something like that

Wiich is specfically what I'm doing, looking at the history of historically locked questions, though as the search parameters are quite limited they include merged questions.

10:21 PM
Yes, that is a bad use of your time and ours
It's a bit like cleaning the staff closet at retail just in case a customer sees it. It doesn't matter, it's not a good use of time and energy, and if someone's specifically looking at that stuff they're going to see a bit of a mess.

Nah its a good use of my time, but I can do without the flagging, as it hardly is relevant for the broad consumer base.

And locked questions are already explicitly not a good example of current practices, nothing on there is going to change
It is a bad use of your time and ours to flag
I mean, you can go ahead and look through locked questions, I'm not trying to say don't bother doing that
Lots of them are an interesting read
But they are locked, they are not getting curated again anytime soon

Out of curiosity was there more than a handful of historically locked questions that got unlocked through meta?

I don't know of a single one that ever has been, in fact. If you know of one you know more of them than me.

Neat. Quite interesting how historical locks have changed over time, especially regarding what made some questions significant.

10:29 PM
Historical locks are a pretty interesting view into how the site's scope has changed!
I like that part of them

Ben
I think I had one interesting situation. I had a question that was merged with another, however they merged the old one with mine (better worded/more specific, something like that), and I believe that may have since been reversed, due to the time stamps.

Oh, huh

Curious.

We've unmerged once, which is a mess that requires staff intervention, but come to think of it reversing a merge is probably not all that difficult

Ben
It was a bit of an odd case

10:33 PM
Do you know which one that was?
I would like to have a gander at that one.

Ben
I'd have to look for it. It might have been one of my Dr Who ones over on scifi

If it isn't a bother, I'm intrigued.

oooh. if it wasn't on rpg.se that would explain why i never heard about this. :U

Q: What is the Doctor's real name?

BenIs there anywhere (in canon) where the Doctor's real name is ever revealed? I know that several people do know it or learn it at some point (like the Master, River, and Clara for example), but is it ever revealed to us?

Now I see it, the merge wasn't reversed, but I think there was something in the works

Rand al'Thor, known time walker - that is great.
The wheel weaves...

Ben
10:40 PM
@Akixkisu Timey-Wimey... Jeremy Bearimy...

That situation is gold.

Ben
Hehe

Ben
@V2Blast This is my favourite part of the whole show.

@Ben It's hard to pick a single favorite part :)

Ben
10:48 PM
That and "I'm not mad, just disappointed"
"Oh come on everyone knows that's worse!"
@V2Blast It is a very well done show :D

Oddly this is a good reminder that I should watch Good Omens.

Ben
11:08 PM
And Jessica Jones, Castlevania, Stranger Things, an (potentially - if you're so inclined) Happy.
There are a few others... I don't remember off the top of my head what they are though :P

I'm about 4 episodes into the last season of JJ
(caught up on Stranger Things S1 and S2 so far)

Ben
@V2Blast I had to start over. I missed the context of episode 1, and my father had not watched it, so we're watching it (sort of) together now :)

@Ben I've been watching each season by myself and then rewatching with my mom (who's watching for the first time), as they come out

Ben
11:52 PM
@V2Blast I like Jessica Jones because she's a superhero that doesn't want to be. And I like Krysten Ritter because of her performance in JJ and in Don't trust the B in apartment 23
