Which is a bit of a shame since the card gameplay looks sufficient to sustain multiple games all on its own.

@trogdor my bff just got that game. She loves it and says it’s one of the most interesting story-mechanic interactions she’s seen in a while (I’m a TTRPG gamer, she’s a computer gamer)

I don’t know if that’s different than what you see but she seems to have a different opinion

no ok it's not that I was saying it was a bad game XD

what I was talking about was two different things really

the game changes it's own mechanics and you are expected to change the way you play it (I don't want to spoil the ways how)

and the characters are,... well not always the nicest people

again without spoiling it but basically the story conceit is that every card, or at least every card that has a face or like a human name or a name you named it yourself (because you will have named it yourself when you get the opportunities to make your own cards for story reasosns)

but all of those cards at least are people

and it brings up to me the ethics of how some of the characters treat the cards (even some who are or were cards at one point themselves)

the game looks really good honestly, it's one of those meta games that isn't just the same game the whole time

it changes it's dynamic while you are playing it and progressing and I actually really like that kinda of thing at least as an idea

the part at the end though is mostly a story part after you have beaten the acts of the game that are actually partly about gameplay

at that point it's more like an interactive movie almost than a game is all

I wasn't saying the whole game was like that or even that it was a bad thing

I guess technically that is three things

one was the overall way the game works, one was how some of the characters seem like jerks, and then one was specifically just vaguely how the ending of the game at least seems to me like it still gives you some gameplay but that gameplay no longer influences or drives the story at that specific point like it does do for the rest of the game

and anyway that ending, at least to me, makes sense

everything is unraveling to a point that both you and the other characters in the game have set in motion towards and when your plays no longer matter it's because of everything you have already done that did matter that it's gotten to that point

if that makes any sense which if you haven't played or watched the game maybe it doesn't XD

She did say the ending could use work though so that’s probably something similar

but I at least think that was intentional

I don’t know, I just synthesize everything she says and sometimes it makes sense. She lets me talk about yarn, I let her talk about video games

really the whole game is weird, the ending itself just changes how it's weird in a way unprecedented before by other parts of the game

anyway I think we are more like that shrimp and fish pair that builds a pit of sand together XD

but then we still have to decide who the shrimp is and who the fish is

and I forget who does the digging and who does the lookout duty

I would call it a house but it's literally like, a pit of sand just to hide from predators in

they don't even have a kitchen XD

Yeeeah, I think most people would agree I'm the funny voice in this relationship.

well mostly like, I don't like to make funny voices soooo

if that's the way you want to categorize it I'm not being that one so I kinda get shoehorned into being the other one

if we just happen to be talking about which of us is the "weird one" I'm afraid we both ended up as goo Harvey with the funny voice somehow

in fact philosophically I would argue everyone is goo Harvey with the funny voice, they are just different levels of aware of it
