In other news: just signed my paperwork confirming that I'm eligible to work in the US and like money put into specific accounts. So I'm officially no longer unemployed!

Nice :)

As we work to improve our relationship and communications with our users, we want to share with you our community roadmap each quarter, so once every three months. Even though we are halfway through this quarter, we wanted to share with you what we are working on currently. In March, we will share our roadmap…
relevant bits:
> Elements of the improved question asking experience that was shipped to Stack Overflow last year will be rolled out to the international and network sites this week and next. This new UX provides a better question-asking flow that unifies the traditional and guided (“Ask Question Wizard”) modes and works equally well for users of all reputation and experience levels. The goal is to help users write better questions and set expectations once their question is posted. This should positively affect the question asking experience across the network, as well as give us a solid platform for pot
> Next month we will release our Follow Questions capability (something that has been discussed by the community for years). This feature will allow users to “follow” or “unfollow” questions. You’ll be notified on new activity for questions you follow and have the ability to silence questions you no longer want to be notified about to reduce the noise you receive in your inbox.

@V2Blast I'm looking forward to that.

I notice when we reference "those 2 cartoons", She-Ra is the only one ppl mention
A fault of the modern culture? or is it age related?

I mean between She Ra and He Man i personally very much prefer She Ra
The new one anyway

there is a new 1?

She-Ra's the one with a really good modern reboot, and not a notoriously bad theatrical release?

where is my cryosleep pod, bring me to it
@BESW that movie was pure gold, 2nd only to beastmaster 3

Yeeeah, if you've bought into the "snowflake" narrative as a generational flaw, this chat may be difficult for you.

11:25 PM
I thought the moedern era just couldnt allow a hero named "he man" due to our culture flip
@BESW My generation is also flawed
like all ppl are

That's not what I said or meant.

Oh that i lable the whole generation
Big strokes, fine details my friend
I do not think every member of a certain generation will all be the same (that would be madness). I just find the frequency of the trait is more prevalent as generations progress

"Snowflake" is a dogwhistle for re-framing marginalized and disenfranchised peoples' struggle for representation and equity as instead them being privileged and overly coddled people attempting to be "special."

like "boomer"
or "Gen X'er"
But i digress, forgive me. I did not intend any negitivity (other than my intended negitivity, which was of a diffrent type)
I will not use that term
Remember my location, we dont have disenfranchised peoples' here
or freedom of speech

It doesn't matter where you're from, you're here and we try to Be Nice to all.

@NautArch it was not my intent to give "hate", honestly
at most disapproval

Let's just move on.

odd name
v2
for the room
@V2Blast so am I in the vipers den, or am I the viper?

This is our overflow room for conversations that have overstayed their welcome elsewhere.

(I believe the name was based on Tavern on the Meta, to differentiate this chat from that one.)

11:51 PM
ok, so welcome is an open term

@V2Blast speaking of odd names, remind me yours again?

Where is this site based?
this is in the states

I am heading off shortly, but I need to make something clear: RPG.SE chat rooms are used by marginalised individuals, including queer and trans folk. I'm one such individual, for example. Calling people's interests snowflake stuff is not going to be okay—BESW has expressed the harm that term represents.

so I understand the countries laws used to govern my words

Similarly, we ask you be mindful when you may be causing others harm or distress. That's a precondition of your welcome in our chat rooms.

@JeffreyWitty It's not about laws, it's about empathy

ok, how would I voice a concern that leads to that context?
so I dont hurt anys feelings (I do not wish to)
like the there are 2 but mentioning 1 is taboo
how do I call out the taboo, politely
or am i expected to remain silent about that sort
if so thats ok

What about a particular taboo are you trying to address?

I mentioned, there was She-Ra and He-Man, but I have seen the dift to NEVER mention the "he-man" all references tend towards the feminine
I questioned if it was age based or cultural
But thats a small example

11:58 PM
I have not witnessed the same trend

I did not witness the assination of JFK, it still happened

There are too many Skeletor memes to suggest that modern internet culture is dismissive of He-Man

Nyeh! Bumblers!

You can find the Code of Conduct here. But as several others have already expressed, it's not a matter of finding a way to stay just within the rules, it's about empathy and understanding. When someone expresses discomfort with how you've phrased something, generally it's best to apologize, and try to understand the other person's point of view - instead of being dismissive or condescending.

11:59 PM
Its very minor

There's no taboo, and assuming that's why you mostly hear about She-Ra is something you'll need to examine: it's as simple as the fact that She-Ra has an awesome new franchise reboot on Netflix so people are talking about it more than they're talking about a franchise that hasn't had publicly visible material in a long time.

@MikeQ Some would say one of them's even a moderator here :P

I just didnt want trouble for being, well from the proceeding era

I don't think you'll find any ageism here (though, I can't be sure)

11:59 PM
to me talking about it isnt taboo
