Also as far as when they did the Shantae one, that doesn't seem like such a big deal as I think on it atm
Because the games I've seen have actually all changed art styles from one to the next
Not necessarily to this degree but still

6 hours later…
8:32 AM
@V2Blast Indivisible intro (first 30 seconds):
Shantae 5 intro:
Bot are from studio Trigger
Yet, if you compare them, you will see that the Shantae trailer looks a lot more like the Kill la Kill art-style
It is also a little more "geometric" if you get what I mean.
I don't really get why they went for that direction when the actual game will reuse part of the Half Genie assets and therefore will be very similar to that.
^ see the demo gameplay here
BTW, those cards.... they give me very evil flashbacks from farming monsters souls in Castlevania....

@Derpy I mean it's definitely a weird choice?

8:48 AM
@trogdor yep, especially when you compare to the Indivisible intro which is far more close to the game art style.

I mean, they have more than the one style
and I can sorta kinda see how Shantae would look like it would benifit from a Kill La Kill aesthetic?
I wouldn't personally agree with them but it also doesn't really bother me too much either
I mean, it is just a 30 second teaser for a game that isn't released yet

To be fair, when I said Kill la Kill I didn't mean the fanservice factor, if that's what you think. I meant that Kill la Kill from what I saw has that distinctive "geometric" feeling at times, with lots of straight lines in their character designs

ah
I mean, all I know about Kill La Kill is a few images and what other people have said about it

@trogdor I don't know much either, just trailers from related games and some clips from the actual anime.

I sorta assumed they chose that style because of the fanservice factor
I don't think I've even seen clips of it
but it kinda doesn't look like my thing?
it seems to be on the extremely heavy end of fanservice
both the outfits and the tons of violence

8:57 AM
but compare Shantae belly in the trailer, which is very geometric (basically two triangles overlapped ) and her figure in the in-game dialogue artworks.

(not that there is really anything wrong with enjoying that, it just makes me a bit uncomfortable)
I mean yeah it's different
but it isn't part of the game?

9:13 AM
Yep, that is kinda my point.... all the in-game art has the same art style.
Characters sprites, animations, static ending pictures, the dialogue character artwork....
All the merchandise has that style too.
(Postcards, action figures, key-chains, cleaning cloths and so on)
But the new intro - doesn't really match
That said, I will indeed laugh if they use the "Trigger excuse" to add a Gurren Lagann's Yoko set for Shantae (like the one in this old Deviantart picture)

9:39 AM
I sorta doubt they will

@Derpy Wow, yeah. That Shantae opening screams Trigger. The Indivisible one is definitely way more understated in that regard. Knowing nothing about Indivisible, I assume it's a bit more serious in tone, but that might be totally wrong.
@trogdor Yes, KLK is definitely full of fanservice. The plot attempts to justify it, but having an in-universe reason for it doesn't really stop it being fanservice.

@V2Blast yeah Thermian Argument stuff

There isn't really gratuitous violence in the sense of gore/blood/whatever, but there's a lot of fighting in the show - a lot of it's pretty slapstick in style.
The soundtrack is excellent.

ah ok
I mean I just know people fight each other? apparently

I enjoy the show for being utterly over-the-top, and there's some fantastic comedy bits in it (courtesy of the character Mako). It's certainly not for everyone :)
haha. yes. there are definitely fights

9:43 AM
while they wear,... lets say ridiculous things

@trogdor One may never know... I mean, we got the Shantae-tank.

yeah that was a thing

@trogdor Yes, that part is definitely accurate. Though the skimpy outfits are mostly restricted to the main character and the early villain

Also known as the "Evolution of Nami" rule.

@V2Blast I honestly never investigated it enough to know that so fair enough
