Q: Will a neutron star always collapse into a black hole in future?

SolidificationIf a star has a mass greater than the Chandrasekhar limit, will it definitely become a black hole in the future or does it need to satisfy additional conditions? Let me explain. Suppose the collapse of a star happens via the formation of the intermediate neutron star stage. Is it possible that t...

Q: Observing light from a falling elevator

Tore FriisToday in my physics class, my teacher said that if one would point a laser into a falling elevator (acceleration because of a gravitational field), an observer inside the elevator would see the light form like a parabola, like i have tried to illustrate here: He told us this is because the eleva...

Q: In its free body diagram, there are only horizontal resistive forces. How can a car accelerate forward?

Stupid Is As Stupid DoesI am wondering why a car can accelerate forward even if no forward net force acting on it. See the following diagram. I don't draw the internal forces due to engine because they don't contribute to the external net force. What am I missing here?
