Q: Where can I find theoretical data to compare with my numerical data for an-harmonic oscillator?

saroj poudyalI am trying to solve an-harmonic oscillator (with x^4 terms) and need theoretical data to compare with my numerical data. thanks in advance...

and I thought I was reading Where can I find theoretical data to compare with my numerical data for an-antiharmonic oscillator?
and wondered: WTF is an antiharmonic oscillator?

@JohnRennie Drat. I need to access my desktop at home but I forgot to turn on TeamViewer. Am I screwed?
1 message moved from The h Bar
@0celoñe7 yes, unfortunately.
Unless there's someone at your house who could run TeamViewer ...
@JohnRennie My roommate is at work too.
I think you can configure TeamViewer to run automatically at boot.
That way you can't forget to run it.
@JohnRennie I do, but to play games I have to turn it off.
If it interferes with anything (games?) then you can always kill the process manually
16:15
The background processes break fullscreen applications.
I forgot to turn it on again when I went to bed.
Schedule the PC to restart itself in the early hours of the morning?
@JohnRennie Can I configure it to turn the app on at 10AM?
That way TV will always be on when you're at the university.
@0celoñe7 I'm sure you can.
I'd have to Google for exactly how to do it, but anything you can do from a command line can be scheduled.
Nice.
Oh hang on, that runs the TV client not the server ...
16:21
@JohnRennie I don't know if the client or the server is the issue.
I just close the whole thing.
I think you just need to run "C:\Program Files (x86)\TeamViewer\TeamViewer.exe"
So just use the Task Scheduler to create a task that runs daily at 10:00 (or whenever) and runs "C:\Program Files (x86)\TeamViewer\TeamViewer.exe"
@JohnRennie Yeah. I suspect the client also starts the server.
The only thing I'm unsure about is if it uses the same ID every time.
@JohnRennie I have a TeamViewer account.
As long as it logs in automatically it should be fine.
Should be fine then.
16:24
I have my "three" computers registered.
16:34
@JohnRennie So are you going to get a GPU for one of your computers?
No :-)
Gaming isn't a thing I do these days.
I find it feels too artificial. That is, you're just trying to solve problems someone else has made up.
@JohnRennie I can't imagine you would feel that way after playing TW3. It's like a movie.
Occasionally I'll play a first person shooter. That's fun because it's purely about reaction times.
I might get the new version of Doom, just for nostalgia's sake.
At the weekend I saw an article on Engadget (I think) about a new gaming laptop. Complete with a GTX 1080, though with an Intel CPU not a Ryzen.
Over $2000 though.
@JohnRennie Bernardo has talked me into getting a second monitor
It's $500
Help
$500!!!!
Does it have a gold frame? :-)
16:39
I@JohnRennie 1440p, 144Hz G sync
Woa, I did not know there's a chat session today
Ah, OK. Though for $500 you could buy a Ryzen 7 to boost the CPU performance ...
It seems Jim's AMA is the first ever AMA that is not took place in place of a chat session
@Secret it's the same time every two weeks ..
@JohnRennie Well... with a gsync monitor the refresh rate of the monitor matches the fps.
Drops are apparently less noticeable.
You basically run the GPU at 100% the whole time and get whatever your machine can handle.
I suspect you'll be paying extra for the Dell badge.
@JohnRennie Comparable ASUS monitors are more expensive.
Ah, OK, fair enough then.
@JohnRennie NB it's a 1440p monitor.
16:45
Do you need 1440p for a game?
I don't know if I want 1440p though. My budget GPU might struggle.
Is there that much detail in the games?
@JohnRennie Modern games are made for 4K.
Gotta figure out the price for a 1080 monitor with the same features
only $25 less
I was going to say, it's not that much cheaper. You might as well go for the Dell. Presumably you can run the game at 1080p if the PC struggles with the higher resolution.
@JohnRennie I don't know if downgrading the resolution is possible/a good idea.
I also don't know how much upscaling the resolution actually does for performance.
16:53
You can certainly run a monitor at less than its native resolution. You get aliasing but I doubt that would be noticable in a game.
@JohnRennie Apparently there's a big performance hit for 1440p.
Ugh, what a pain
I can't find good 1080p gsync monitors
I'm not surprised - you're doubling the number of pixels.
I found a web page saying NVidia charge a large licencing fee for manufacturers to build in Gsync.
That fee probably makes it not worth while for manufacturers to make a lower spec GSync monitor. If NVidia's fee is a large chunk of the price reducing the spec doesn't make the monitor that much cheaper.
@JohnRennie I just don't understand how these people are running games at 144fps at 1440p!!!!
I wonder what the 1440p would be like at 720p. That seems an odd thing to do, but with the anti-aliasing done by the video card ou probably wouldn't notice much, and the frame rate would go through the roof.
@JohnRennie I did not buy a $1600 PC to play at 720...
16:59
Well the aim of the PC is to have fun. It might turn out the game is more enjoyable at 720p.
If it eliminates all the dropouts
But I wouldn't use 720p on a 1080p monitor as you'll get aliasing.
I'll have to think about this later. Gotta get work done
On a 1440p it would work because it's exactly half the resolution.
Back to the tag arguments then ...
