@AccidentalFourierTransform strangely enough, I've had a couple of flags on link-only answers disputed on Math SE: it looks like a large number of reviewers there say it's OK, even though they too have the link-only deletion reason. Perhaps Stephane is trying to follow the guidelines of a different site and simply isn't aware that we try hard to remove link-only content.
