> I recently started a discussion in a chat (Physics meta room, 6th June '18) about how homework-help-seekers find us
Perhaps this would be more comfortable for readers of your post, if you want them to have possibility to find the transcript easily: 6th June '18 chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/13775/2018/6/6
And, of course, you could also bookmark a conversation and link to the bookmark. (In that way you would be able to show several days of the transcript in the link - which is not the case for the previous link, the reader has to click on next day if they want to continue reading.)

I talk in chat a lot so I often need links to point out to some discussions (and sometimes it is relevant in post in some local meta).
I use either link to a specific message - it can be obtained if you click in chat room or in transcript on the little arrow next to message and click on permalink. Example: See the discussion which starts here: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/45076170#45076170
And as already mentioned, I often use either link to a specific day in the transcript - such as chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/13775/2018/6/10 - or link to a bookmarked conversation - currently I see two conversations on the conversation tab of this chatroom.
