But, seriously, I think that this is a perfect fit for a combined blog post.

We all watch the BD's and then each write a short opinion on it and then it gets combined into 1 large blog post.

Then if people still wanted to do some more esoteric topics they can be proposed separately

So what kind of content are you looking for for this initial combined post?

General impressions, a short review of Star Wars from our own perspective/history, some specific chunk of the release?

For veterans, it could be a small compare/contrast to their current version or when they first saw it. For the quasi-fan (like me) I can write something about watching them all in a row or in a particular order. And the newbie could write about the new experience.

Once everyone writes the posts, then we can decide if it's too much for one post or what.

That could work.

Or everyone can just write a small paragraph on what they think about Star Wars.

We should really get someone who hates the series in on this, lol. That would be an interesting read

Another option is we could have a scheduled chat in a room like this, and post a (cleaned up) transcript of our discussion

@Jeff I was thinking the same thing. But it would be hard if people wanted to do cross talk. And it would need to be locked for approved members only at that time so random people not part of the discussion wouldn't barge in unexpectantly.

@OghmaOsiris When I created this room, I think there's a 'lock this room except for invited people' option.

I didn't scrutinize, as this was going to be public.

"Gallery: anyone may enter, but only approved users can talk" but it looks like you need to be a diamond mod to use that setting.

What could be cool is a quasi interview type thing if the members couldn't be on all at once. We all agree on questions to answer then we all submit our answers and the blog post would basically just ask the question, then list all of our opnions. I see this done on sevral gaming blogs.

Well, everyone needs to get the BD's. Then we need to watch them all, lol. That's like 18 hours of movie.

I have mine, though I'm unlikely to watch them this weekend. I may be getting a full player next Monday, which would be much better than watching them on my tiny laptop screen.

I just hope this edit is better than the Special Edition version.

This weekend I plan on watching all 6 movies, and hopefully some of the extras, so I can generate some quick blog post early next week.

@OghmaOsiris I didn't like a lot of the edits, especially the 'Greedo Shot First' thing.

I know it's unlikely to be changed back, but it could be improved

I wasn't against most of the subtle things - the color cleanup was nice in general, the expanded backgrounds were good (especially on Cloud City), and I liked some of the improved sounds...but the BIG things (like that horribly CGI'd Jabba in IV) were just horrible.

Someone should make a blog post explaining the changes. Cause I never knew there was a difference from the original to the special edition

But it'd be hard to do it well, especially since I have to coordinate my viewing around taking care of my kids

They're 3 and 18months, so they lose interest after ~30 minutes
