@SpiritRealmInvestigator I came across St. Macarius, a 4th century Coptic ascetic desert monk who was well regarded at the time because of his wisdom as well as his "spiritual gifts" though MORE than your usual charismatic ones: prophecy, exorcism, healing, bringing back dead man to life, converting horse back to a woman, etc. Read some stories here.
What do you make of that? He is canonized by Catholic & Orthodox denominations, certainly more established than some 21st century charismatic claimants (!) yet maybe more troubling to us. I'm reading his Fifty Spiritual Homilies. The monastery founded by him in 360AD was renovated only a few decades ago.
