Clipboards. How do they even work
Actually, I kind of like that so I'll leave it unedited.

@WesleyDavid I are a unique-ish snowflake!

@Ward So precious.
You're adorkable!

12:20 AM
Oooh, Derpy from Hell!

DOFH?

Rats, I forgot to change the DOFH colour to the slightly darker^H^H^H^H^H^H more evil shade.

Q: What software can help me simulate a network?

Q: Recover Exchange 2007 DB (have log files)

Josh RI'm looking for a tutorial or steps to restore an Exchange DB. I had to recover our server using an image a few days old, this has an Exchange DB missing a few days worth of mail. Yeah, the downvote is mine.

3:15 AM
@WesleyDavid Yes, Iain's right. I think I've found maybe 3-4 good cPanel questions. Most are a nasty case of "HALP! My server's broken and I've not go Clue #1 WTF I should do about it!!!1!"

Welcoming to the Borkination.

I see 'thinice' just got chewed up and spit out by ErikA.

Yeah, that was the exciting dust-up for the weekend.

Not the first time he's copped an attitude though.
@WesleyDavid So why exactly are we all to be changing our gravatars?

@Adrian Because BOFH!!
I think it started with Chopper3 and/or Iain. Something about bleeding people out in front of their loved ones

3:30 AM
Seriously, is it that difficult to press Shift when typing "I"??!

@mgorven i guess so.
Also hard to press the space bar.

@mgorven: probably, I'm terrible about that. I also think using a capital I when I mean myself in the middle of a sentence seems pretentious, so I avoid doing so in informal writing. (I make the effort on the SE sites tho, cause people keep complaining about it politely ;p) (posted after hunting down, and applying capital punishment to stray is)

@JourneymanGeek How's things in Singaporeland?

busy busy still
hopefully things will calm down after july

Needed a meta post about it:

Q: BOFH Gravatar Week

WardThis is your chance to show your true colours... Use the (semi-) official Bastard Operator From Hell Gravatar for a week or a while. I don't think there's any particular reason, it just seemed like a good idea.

@freiheit What will they think on bicycles.SE ?...

@Ward Nothing, because that's only my gravatar on SF

@freiheit What the... I didn't know you could have site-specific gravatars...

@Ward It's easy. Just have site-specific email-addresses.
Though, it is time for a cycling avatar update... I trimmed that beard off when the weather warmed up...

Yeah, I remember that from when I worked the schools

If it would just stop fucking raining, it'd be fun - field trips, bike rides, but instead we get hail storms.
But better hailstones than gallstones...
(see what I did there? but you probably have kidney stones, oops)

haha, nah, the kidney stones are gone :P
And between then and now, I've somehow managed to pick up a lady friend ;)

@Iain See what you caused?
@Holocryptic According to the Mayans...

@Ward Yeah. I don't care what they think anyways. They're dead. And I've got a woman.

Jan 13 at 20:13, by Iain
@pfo I listened to a radio program recently that suggested this was new-aged twaddle. The main reason being that this is only the end of the 13th Bak'tun and 13 has no relevance to the Myans whereas to Myan's the 20th Bak'tun would be significant.

6:04 AM
I've no idea what that is, but I'll take your word for it.

how goes ?

good good
great, really

Q: CCNA: OSPF adjency over Framerelay

Lucas KauffmanI set up framerelay and I can successfully ping from R1 to R2. The problem I'm having is that there aren't OSPF advertisements. I explicitly stated broadcast when mapping the IP's. Q: Bandwidth and hard drive space for url shortener

NickWhat is a good bandwidth and hard drive space for a url shortener with high traffic?For example bitly.com or is.gd ...what do their server's specs like?

3 hours later…
8:36 PM
@ewwhite Don't forget that ESXi 5 is really ESXi 4.5 - that's what it was designed for - I actually had beta code called exactly that, it's an evolution of 4 not a new version and although there will be changes to the iSCSI (not my thang I'm sure you'll recall) code I doubt it's significantly less stable than 4.

8:58 PM
@Chopper3 I think I found two issues... buggy Nexenta problems and the wrong subnet mask on my storage switch vlan.

@Iain dafuq, I'd say it's off topic too since he doesn't even seem to bother looking into basic DNS

@Chopper3 But I've had to rebuild one host three times due to problems with swISCSI boot delays and weird timeouts.

@LucasKauffman He's a devops what do you expect

@ewwhite have you tried KVM instead of ESXi :3

@LucasKauffman Yeah, it works like a charm... no issues, bugs or usability problems.
(psssh)

9:01 PM
We are working with openstack and kvm for our bachelors test, a few weeks ago they solved a bug in kvm with hairpin mode for IPv4, this caused a new bug where it's impossible to configure IPv6 because the kernel thinks there are duplicates and constantly deconfiguring the IPv6 addresses
anyone seen that nazis on the moon movie?

@LucasKauffman painful?

@ewwhite I think we opened 3 bugs at launchpad so far
but I have to admit, when it actually works its really fun to play with

"when it works"

yea :p

is that an endorsement?

9:29 PM
@ewwhite It has potential, I mean for a private cloud it's usable if they can get it stable

Q: Disk IO slow on ESXi, even slower on a VM (freeNAS + iSCSI)

varesaI have a server with ESXi 5 and iSCSI attached network storage(4x1Tb Raid-Z on freenas 8.0.4). Those two machines are connected to each other with Gigabit ethernet. The raid-z volume is divided into three parts: two zvols, shared with iscsi, and one directly on top of zfs, shared with nfs and sim...

I started to answer, but think that whatever I write will be a lost cause.
