@MarkHenderson Mark, did you finally succeed resolving your issue with Magic XPA / UniPaaS and SNMP monitoring?

@the-wabbit ok kinda creepy you tracked me down from a yahoo group ;) but no
I even opened a case with magic support but they were not very helpful
I remember in about 2006 I had it working with Magic 9.5 but I never had it working with uni pass, ever
We actually gave up for our internal clusters years ago and wrote our own monitoring tool that would get request data from mgrqcmdl and log it into SQL and then wrote another layer to display a dashboard that gave per-server stats and graphs and shit
But I don't work there any more so I don't know if they ever figured it out. They were working on it when I left (the snmp thing)

Seems appropriate

@JourneymanGeek it certainly is. Just replace DenverCoder9 with TheFarSeeker and that matchstick man is me. Only that I immediately knew who wrote that post and where to find him :-)
And you asked him what did he see.... ;p
Less shaking tho
@MarkHenderson Pity. We are parsing mgrqcmdl output as well, but SNMP would make life easier for us.
@JourneymanGeek I would not be too sure about the "less shaking" part. Although it is a laptop screen instead.
Thanks folks, I got to go. Have a nice weekend.

@the-wabbit I have never met another stranger who is using uniPaaS
I've only ever met others at conferences and whatnot
Our Magic distributor was in New Zealand and we were in Australia and of course Magic is in Israel so any troubleshooting we did needed to coordinate all three parties which was a nightmare
Which is why I used to fall back to the usergroup
If memory serves correct, you had to install the SNMP Windows service, then install the broker, which would give you the snmp.dll
Once the broker was installed you needed to enable SNMP in the mgrb.ini
Restart the broker
And it was meant to magically work
But of course... it didn't
When I left we were meant to be building a test environment for them to remote into to test it, but our client was like "oh hella no"
No wait, we already did the test environment and Magic asked if they could try it on the live environment
And thats when our customer was "fuck no"
And for our own servers, like I said we had our own monitor that was a thousand times better than the Magic one
I did try to reverse engineer the protocol that the built-in broker monitor used but I never had any luck. It's not published and I couldn't get it even with an NDA

Wow. Job offer per phone went from 'are you interested' to '90% arranged' within an hours. Not what you expect from a large firm.
