@CiurkitboyN No one here seems to identify as "humans" 😁
1:45 PM
or as 'fellow' @Wolff

2 hours later…
3:56 PM
@Wolff in 2 or 3 days I'll apply for Learner License (driving). and that too non-corrupt (i mean paying official fee, not paying extra to agents/vendors with illegal way) way. So I'm a bit excited and too afraid what would happen. I've a lot of negative thoughts already
this is going to be biggest and important thing done by me in recent years
many neighbors already commenting that i should go "illegal" way to save time. but i've chosen the right path
@Vikas For which vehicle? Not car right?
@Wolff yeah. just two wheelers for now. I want to remove this "obstacle" first. I'll be much confident after seeing the reality in transport office.
@Vikas You'll do fine. It's just like a computer game (only people die if you make a big mistake). 😉
i'm sure they'll try to be rude/harass me, so i would choose the illegal way so they get more money. I'm just thinking a lot
@Wolff yeah, but there could be problems like i said 7 out 10 people here get license without written test and driving test.
i don't know the reality but I see an imminent fear
@Vikas If I had that choice, I would also take the long way. It's not about cheating the system, it's about getting training so you feel comfortable.
4:01 PM
@Wolff yeah that's what I'm aiming for.
if the legal way don't succeed, i'm already thinking to complain them in police
@Vikas Please explain
i will ask them how did everyone else got license without tests
@Wolff i mean they make license illegal way. without a written test (about road safety and vehicles) and driving test.
but i havent' heard in my area someone going the legal way to get the license. So right now I'm feeling i'm the only one.
even my friends got it illegal way.
they charge 10 times more money for "shortcut"
@Vikas Is the illegal way cheaper or just faster?
i will pay only official amount.
@Vikas Ah OK, you answered it
4:05 PM
@Wolff no. illegal way is far costly, but doesn't consume time. you don't have to go anywhere and that's why i'm hating everyone around me who tells me to do this.
@Vikas To me there is no doubt that you are doing the right thing. I don't think we have such obvious swindle with driver's licenses here. It's a serious matter. You need to know what you are doing when driving.
official fee is about $5 only. But they want to charge $50
@Wolff it has consumed a lot of my energy in last 2 years. I've been thinking a lot. I guess i already told you i don't have license. i would get license 2 years ago if i had support.
@Vikas Well, you have my support for what it's worth
now that i'm doing nothing, i've spent last month in thinking "Feel the fear and do it anyway"
@Vikas People who don't think too hard about everything get more things done 😩
4:09 PM
most likely i'll get to know what happens next week.
@Wolff yeah. but this is about road safety. irony is, one of the certificate that I'm going to submit with license application forms is about road safety and first-aid. but on the other hand, they are "asking" to skip driving test.
I think I saw a single stop sign during my three weeks in India :D
Bigger goes first
Is my understanding of how things work there
@Vikas Being the only one following the rules, you might end up causing problems 😂
@curious well that's still a different thing. We can call it lack of resources or a developing country. But corruption in road safety is a very bad thing.
@Wolff yes, but I'm hoping i find some other applicants of my type too while i'm in the transport office. I might be overthinking, but that's a possibility that they'll be too rude to me for going the legal way.
yea I didn't know there was an "accepted" corrupt way to get a licence there
@curious and reality is, everyone knows here but it doesn't change. Complains don't affect anyone. If you just google "why RTO so corrupt in India" you'll see the reality. (RTO is short form for Regional Transport Office)
4:25 PM
A chaos of motorbikes, camels, tuktuks, cars and truck is what I recall :)
@curious oh yeah. i'm so afraid of thinking of driving in bigger roads in bigger cities.
there's a local joke that if I went to follow the road rules, i would definitely meet an accident.
but that's a bad joke anyway
@Vikas or just not get anywhere, ever!
@curious yeah
@curious btw how do you feel about those texts written behind the truck? 🤣
i think you might have seen many more texts behind auto rickshaw and trucks especially.
there are often 1 line poetry/joke
@Vikas This one isn't the best but there was some impressive hand lettering there

6 hours later…
10:41 PM
Greetings fellow humans
@Wolff well... uh... Vikas is a human right?
