@johnp see you gotta think the same with camera gear, lenses, everything. cost is relative to value. Buy quality once and it'll last a lot longer

You really love that line, don't ya?
Not that I don't agree with it

6:50 AM
Hey anybody of you design wedding invitations regularily
?
Would you include beads or custom cut stock? If it was essentially free due to manufacturing method?

2 hours later…
8:42 AM
@joojaa me thinks @Vincent has dabbled in that

9:37 AM
Figures but you have now pinged him so i suspevct he willbe around sometimes on the weekend if not today
BTW are we going to need new moderatirs

10:13 AM
@PieBie what don't I dabble in? :P cc @joojaa

;)

@joojaa custom cut stock sounds like a nice idea, if used well

@Vincent i asked if anybody does designs for wedding invites

beads... is out of the box, but could work
I made a few of them, mostly in-the-box designs

I mean im doing a testbed for a NEW method.
you cant really call it printing
but basically it can do everything a human could do by hand
but at a very veryu much lower cost
And repeatebaility

10:16 AM
I am envisioning a 3D-printer that creates paperlike stuff now :)

@Vincent well not quite but closer
But I am not goiung to tell.

that's okay

My point is would it mke your life easier if you could get small volumes like 30-200 Invite cards, on any stock material, with any cut, with a wide range of imnks ink (yes even opaque ones on black) at prices around 1-2 euros, possibly less, but with no setup cost! So red on black cardboard No problem, custom shape no problem, glued bead no problem, glued piece of other stock no problem @Vincent
In envelopes that have custom design on top! Included
With individual designs onb each card (so differet text or layout no problem)
SO maybe its better to say range would be 1-200

did you make an evil invention, @joojaa

Yes

10:26 AM
exciting

Only downside is i need new design tools
But not that big of a deal

sounds interesting

But i need to do a test production before i can assault that phase

@joojaa so basically and Arts and Crafts machine ?

@PieBie Yeah basically
But problem with arts and craft is that its expensive for customers

10:33 AM
uh oh, they won't like that over at crafts.stackexchange.com

@PieBie who cares. I am not forbidding anybody form doing their own.
Hand crafts will be different, since tha machine can do things that wouldnt be really populart in arts and crafts
@PieBie but its not a done deal yet ;)
But it will happen eventually
Its close
I allready have architects downstairs do their scale models automated with robots

11:06 AM
inevitable as it may be, it's a pain to see a video where no solution is proposed for this kind of thing
i just see a huge gap widening between the elite and the newly unemployed
hopefully ill be long since dead by then :)

11:19 AM
@johnp That is why ive been telling that we need the Basic Income to come true
its not a question of not really liking it

definitely

its that, civil war, or mass murders.
Those are the options

i see all the crazy capitalists trying to postpone that though

yes but those are the options dont postpone too long

12:05 PM
It starts with basic income... ends with communist regime.

omg

:S

12:37 PM
@WELZ Nordic countries basically have basic income allready
Its just a case to streamline it to be more transparent and less burecratic

Alright, I just can't see it working here in America

@WELZ get ready to starve then

i think the US stands to benefit a lot from more welfare state policies
when you consider the level of homelessness and untreated health issues which are just perpetuated by poverty.
i think the new Red Scare that is happening in the US has put a kind of label any remotely socialist policy as a threat of communist dictatorship!
here in Ireland, the current govt is starting to dismantle welfare policies and it's resulting in a huge increase in homelessness and poverty.

Just sharing: Get 50 custom printer die stickers (up to 3x3) for $9 (through MightyDeals) the stickers are from StickerMuler (excellent stickers!)

1:37 PM
@johnp I heavily second that statement
I think it's the Red Scare that duped the Dems out of the candidate that could have kept the GOP out of the White House: Bernie Sanders

poor ol' Bernie! imagine how different things could have been
same in the UK with Jeremy Corbyn

it's bad and sad, I know, but I know way more about US politics than about UK

it's weird here lol. We follow English politics here like a tv show, even though it doesnt concern us much :D We received their tv and radio channels for years so I guess we're kind of tied in that way

still high bidder so far! someone raised the bid but not enough to beat me yet

1:54 PM
@Ryan keep your grubby mitts on that thing :D

@Vincent if I win I'll make a youtube video showing it off :)

oh, now I'm curious :)

Q: Do commercial artists have any legal obligation to avoid predatory design practices?

RyanSmithsonian Magazine recently ran an article, Ads for E-Cigarettes Today Hearken Back to the Banned Tricks of Big Tobacco, about E-Cigarette Ads utilizing techniques that were already banned (in the US) by combustible cigarettes. I've done freelance work for a Vapeshop before. Thinking back on t...

woops meant to link the answer
"Of course, now every "senior account" have watched Man Man 50 times..."
I really hope Mad Men is called Man Man is Poland

@Welz the fact that it didnt die immediately was a supprise, unlike US you cant kill stuff here immediately when govermdnt changes. But in reality that entire thing has been engineered to fail by a goverment that is very philosophically opposed to it.
But really we have basic income allready its just conditional to the whims of the goverment. Universal would just be a step towards not spending so much money policing the system.
Anyway the way i see this is which game do you want to play?

Politics really shouldn't be discussed here, but since we started... 😂 In a system like that where everyone gets a basic income... where does the money come from? Not taxes... there's no need or drive to work. Nobody working nobody paying taxes.
That's why I don't understand how it'll work.

4:48 PM
@WELZ theres still taxes
Anyway the question really boils down to

On what income?

The same income you spend now on stuff that dont do anythingfor you
the question is: In the event that 99% of work ceases to exist (which is a possibilitry)
* Do we consolidate the money to a few or
*spread it around.
thing is finland allready uses today 66 300 000 000 Euros on social security
If you spread that to all people
if you divide that by 5 million
Thats 13260 per person per year
thats 1105 euros per person per month. So you see we allready spend this money!
since the emount proposed is 650 you are still left with a lot of money for medicine and other things
@WELZ so you see it may in fact be cheaper than what we do today

@joojaa what about people who are relying on this now (old folks who can't work)

@WELZ they would still be better off since in fact they get less meny now. and they dont have to fight the system thet makes it impossible for them to do any work

I don't know how the system works now.

5:00 PM
just had a look at the old age pension here out of interest
it's €12,434 a year

@WELZ basically to make it impossible for the unemplyed who are on benefit to compete with others they have a 3 month probation between benefitds and work

probably wont exist when im old enough to retire!

So if they accapt one day of work they lose 3 months of benefit

@johnp similar situation in the US

it's not a lot really in some situations

5:03 PM
Yes but you see the universal income is just a way to make the process a postive spiral. Thats support allready exist in a form or another. Those that still work would pay taxes as usual. But it would take the shame of asking and depending out of the picture.
which is a good thing
Its also true that if your not unemployed for long you get more money, but thats not money form my goverment.
But my union/uneployment insurer

im all for it. I think the real problem will be other powers trying to undermine it for the sake of profit @joojaa
at least that would be likely here

yeah, but again we can choose not to accept that

of course! not that straightforward sadly

But then Finland has much higher social cohesion than US
A gift from Stalin
Unintended though
Finland was never united until USSR decided to attack Finland

@Lucian Congrats on the 10k!

5:16 PM
Oh wow! Congrats!
