the recent drama about the responsive themes and the, imho, very authoritarian and inflexible stance in communication SE has taken, was for me the straw that broke the camel's back
that is the other option I've been playing with. But I feel SE's stance and lackadaisical attitude towards their users isn't going to change in a few months.

I compare their current blundering (in my mind it's a marketing nightmare) to how other user-oriented companies their size communicate with their users / customers
I have participated in dozens of online communities over the years. All of them either stopped working or died out. I learned to stop caring about what the companies behind them are doing and just enjoy them while it lasts.
