There are lots of measures of inflation because not all types of goods increase in cost at the same rate.

For example food prices might go up a lot but fuel prices might stay the same.

Typically the most common measure of inflation is the consumer price index. This is calculated by taking the prices of a whole range of things and averaging the price rises.

And this is usually what is meant by headline inflation.

It takes a lot of work to calculate the CPI exactly because there are thousands of goods that you need to find the price of, then process all that data to produce the final figure.

So it's common to issue an estimate of the CPI halfway through the calculation i.e. when you have a lot of the data but not all of it. This gives people an advance warning of what the final result is likely to be, then you can issue the exact figure later when you have all the data.

And this is the provisional figure.

An imputed figure is one that has been estimated rather than actually measured.

What does special vehicle mean in the context.

But the product needs a lot of money to develop and you have to borrow that money.

If you borrow that money then the new product is a failure and doesn't sell then you can't repay the money and your company goes bankrupt. Yes?

To guard against this what you can do is set up a separate company just to develop the new product. That other company borrows the money needed to develop the product, and if things go wrong that other company goes bust, and your company is still fine.

The new company is a special purpose company because it was set up only to develop the (risky) new product.

So this would be an example of a special purpose vehicle, where vehicle just means a company.

Now Adani could go bankrupt then why would it want to take that risk?

This means the companies Adani Green Energy and Sky Power Global are going to set up a new company for some reason.

Maybe it's to develop some new product.

But 100 percent stake is the answer for the blank

It just means they own all the shares in the new company, but they are not liable for its debts.

Lending to a new company is risky so lenders will usually charge a high interest rate.

What if I take the loan directly on behalf of the company what am I to lose that is what I am asking

Then if the company does well they make a lot of money. If it fails they lose their money.

Typically lenders will make loans to lots of new companies, and enough of the new companies succeed that overall the lenders still make money.
