@JohnRennie Good morning
What is meant by "how many volumes of manuscript with commentaries"
In a news it was reported that NArendra Modi released how many volumes of manuscript with commentaries by 21 scholars on shlokas of S Bhagvadgita at his residence
Please give me a slightly detailed insight into this..

That must be a misprint. You could say Narendra Modi released many volumes of manuscript
But I don't see that the word how fits with the rest of the sentence.
Oh wait, unless it's a question i.e. it's asking you how many volumes Modi released.

What is meant by volumes of manuscript
?

It means the manuscripts have been collected together into books, but because they won't all fit into a single book they have been divided into several books. Each book is then called a volume.
So all eleven volumes together make up the complete collection of manuscripts.

Scholar Commentry means?

The Shrimad Bhagavad Gita (; Sanskrit: श्रीमद भगवद्गीता।, IAST: bhagavadgītā /bɦɐɡɐʋɐd ɡiːtäː/, lit. "The Song by God"), often referred to as the Gita, is a 700-verse Hindu scripture that is part of the epic Mahabharata (chapters 23–40 of Bhishma Parva), dated to the second century BCE. It is considered to be one of the main holy scriptures for Hinduism. The Gita is set in a narrative framework of a dialogue between Pandava prince Arjuna and his guide and charioteer Krishna, an avatar of Lord Vishnu. At the start of the Dharma Yuddha (righteous war) between Pandavas and Kauravas, Arjuna is filled...

4:45 AM
Okay

The Srimad Bhagavadgita is a Hindu scripture. A commentary is when someone writes a book about it trying to explain it and examine exactly what it means.

Ok
And manuscript?
Please move to the problem after this

A manuscript is just something that is written.

I think it tends to be used to mean something that has been written by hand rather than being printed like a book.

4:51 AM
Ok
Please move to the problem now

I'd probably start by sketching out the six flats then start using the information to try and figure out where each letter is.
So there is the two rows of flats, one row facing North and the other facing South. The aim is to identify which flat corresponds to which letter.
We are told that Q and T are in North flats and R is in one of the South flats. OK so far?

I would just start putting in letters and see what happens. We can put Q and T in the first two north flats so we get:

We are told R is in a south flat and to the right of X, so R must be one of the two rightmost south flats. Let's try putting R in the rightmost flat:
Then we are told S and X are diagonally opposite, so S has to go in the top right flat:
And that only leaves one place P can go:

5:06 AM
ok great:-)

Now if I interchange

This seems to fit with the description, though I'm not sure if it's the only possible solution.

What is meant by net to one another
Yes

I would guess next to means to the right if or to the left of

5:09 AM
Yes but which one do I pick and choose?

Hmm, maybe next to means the corresponding flat in the other row. If it meant to the left or right then there could be two possible answers.
It is a bit unclear ...
i.e. as drawn at the moment T is next to X.

Answer is P

So if you swap P and T that would make P next to X so the answer is (a)

Sorry R

Well R is to the right of X ...

5:13 AM
ok
So convention is move from left to right

I don't know. The question isn't clear on this ...
I don't understand why the answer is R

Q10 is clearer because the south flats are P, X and R so the answer is (3) XRP

Which flat is diagonally opposite to each other?

11 mins ago, by John Rennie
user image
Well (a) Q&P are not diagonally opposite

5:18 AM
ok
So PT?

Yes

I guess answer is wrong it says QP!!
Next question I am posting

I think there is only one other possible arrangement:
The only difference is that Q and S are swapped. But this doesn't affect any of the answers.

OK, I don't understand why we got 9 and 11 wrong ...

5:22 AM
:-) The answers are incorrect it seems.

Maybe, or maybe we misunderstood the question.

I do not think so..Everything seems logical

The letters are slightly different but it's the same question.

So where did we go wrong?

Statement (4) says R is just right to X
I assumed this meant R is on the right and X is on the left i.e. R is on the right of X
But the answer shows R and X the other way round ...
Like this.
Oh wait, also statement (3) means something different from what we thought. I guess diagonally opposite must mean at opposite corners.
Basically the question is really unclear.

5:33 AM
ok
But where did the first question go rong?
wrong?

I think we should give up on this question because it's so unclear I don't understand what it is asking.

Yes even their analogy of diagonally opposite compels us to thing this way!!
@DannyLeBeau Welcome
:-)
@JohnRennie Sir next question

OK ... ?

wait a sec
@JohnRennie Sir it is the continuation of the whole question

5:46 AM
OK

I think that's what the question says. You might want to go though it and check I've got all the directions correct.
So X walked 15km and Y walked 27km

So X walked 12km less than Y. The answer to the first part is (3) X, 12 km

Letme check once
correct

5:50 AM
Correct

For the second party X is approximately south-west of Y, but not exactly. I would say the answer was (5) None of these.
But I guess (4) South-west is approximately correct.

What is the answer?

You are right..

:-)

5:53 AM
Just a sec one more question

OK ... ?

If a person moves 5km north and reach the point P,moves 7km right and reaches the point Q then take three right turns and moves 8km,2km and 10km respectiely afterr that they take two left turns and moves 9km and 4km respectively.
Q1.Starting point in which direction from end point?

Well, let's draw the diagram:

(1)North (2)North-West(3)North-East(4)South-East(5)None of these
Q2.Find the distance between starting and end point?
(1)12km (2)15km(3)18km(4)Cannot be determined(5)None of these.

If I've followed all the directions correctly this is the path.

6:03 AM
ok
Answer is South east.

The way we find the exact position of the end point is to add up all the distances moved in the NS and EW directions.

What is the distance between starting and end point?

@RajorshiKoyal it is approximately south east but not exactly south east.

And I make the final distance 5 km

6:08 AM
Distance between starting and end point meaning?

I've drawn the SE direction and you can see it doesn't go exactly from the end to the start point.
This is the distance from the end point to the start point.
The way we work this out is to write the position as a pair of numbers (E, N) where E is the distance moved East and N is the distance moved North.
We start at (0,0) and the first step is 5km north so the next position is (0, 5). OK so far?

Then we move 7km east so we add 7 to the east distance to get (7, 5)
Then we move 8 km south so we subtract 8 from the north distance to get (7, -3).
OK so far?

ok
then

The we move 2km west so we subtract 2 from the east distance to get (5, -3)
Then we move 10km north so we add 10 to the north distance to get (5, 7).

6:18 AM
ok then?

I've drawn the (E,N) positions on the diagram.
So the final position is (-4,3) i.e. we ended up movind 4 km west and 3 km north.

so the final answer is 5?

Do you know Pythagoras' theorem?

Yes
That gives 5 doesn't it?

Correct! :-)

6:24 AM
thanks

:-)

What is NITI aayog can you assist me slightly with this?

I need to answer another question now. I'll ping you when I'm free.

ok
Sure :-)

Q: Having difficultly to understand two indices with regard to inflation

TheFinanceOfficerWhat are these terms "provisional headline inflation" and "imputed index" used to predict in terms of inflation?

I could not figure out what it means by provisional headline inflation if you can figure out anything please tell.
