I'm a bit worried that my flying manual opens with the Bernoulli Principle explanation of fixed-wing flight
 
@DanHulme as long as your wing understands lift, you'll be fine :)
 
@DanHulme Read a helicopter manual instead. "Flight is achieved when sufficient noise and flailing occurs to frighten enough air away from the vehicle..."

the problem I have with it is not the complexity of a two-paragraph simplification; it's the fact that it's wrong

In my case, no, the book was so outdated it had quite a few regulations that have since been reworked.
