Forgotten Realms question: what'd be the closest thing in the Realms to leprosy IRL? (i.e. infectious but insidious disease with disfiguring effects that tends to cause victims to become outcasts)
@ThomasMarkov shog9 has a good point
1:37 AM
@Shalvenay There's one in salt marsh, I"ll get you the details.
@Shalvenay It's Bluerot
While afflicted with Bluerot, a Victim grows grotesque blue boils on their face and back. This disease is carried by Undead (including the drowned ones in Tammeraut’s Fate), and victims most often acquire it through wounds caused by infected creatures.

The disease’s boils manifest in 1d4 hours, causing the victim’s Constitution and Charisma scores to decrease by 1d4 each, to a minimum of 3. This is quickly followed by a fever and tingling in the extremities. An infected creature is vulnerable to radiant damage and gains the ability to breathe Underwater.
@Shalvenay Does that fit what you are looking for?
@KorvinStarmast that's along the lines, although it lacks the characteristic insidiousness of leprosy
(M. leprae takes its own sweet time incubating)
1:58 AM
There may be others, but that's what I have access to and in my brain. Maybe just use leprosy and accept that magical worlds don't have to have mundane world diseases. OR, Consider the incubation period of the slaad inside the human for your model?
@KorvinStarmast yeah, I might just roll with leprosy and have the reader translate to FRese if you will :P

@ThomasMarkov in 4 hours I can award that bounty
@V2Blast Huh. Isn't that an exploit that circumvents accountability/transparency/sousveillance?
@vicky_molokh-unsilenceMonica it's available to all mods in all non-SO chats
(I'm presuming the SO mods can do it on SO-chat, not so sure if they can do it in non-SO-chat...?)
it's not an exploit though, as it's working as intended?
I've used it to redact personal information from chat in the past, for instance
@AncientSwordRage I thought trash being a souveillable room is working as intended? At least that's how I remember trash working before. A creation of a fake trash room to circumvent that - is that actually OK?
And there is a built-in tool for mods to fully wipe a message (say if someone accidentally slips PII etc.)
There are many different trash rooms, that one is mod only
@vicky_molokh-unsilenceMonica yeah I'm not sure why V2B moved it first, but I don't see an issue with that

@AncientSwordRage The three chat "servers" are separate, including mod privileges. You might recall not having mod powers on MSE chat
@Someone_Evil I didn't know/couldn't confirm if there was a hierarchy where SO Mods has mod powers on non-SO chats
I've definitely made a SO chat room for a work course I was on, only to find I didn't have mod powers!
I'm laughing that this MSE post is a dupe, of a dupe, of a dupe
@AncientSwordRage Oh, you might be right. *shrug*
@Medix2 heh
@Someone_Evil I would need to find a tame SO mod to find out

@Akixkisu Unimaginable power XD
I have been enjoying the answers to this question: worldbuilding.stackexchange.com/questions/213951/…
and plan to use some of the concepts in them in the next campaign I run :D
1:08 PM
@AncientSwordRage Any of the answers here good enough for an accept?
@ThomasMarkov My answer there is pretty great :P
This just seems like an incomplete question rpg.stackexchange.com/q/191737/44723 am I missing something?
@Akixkisu Yeah, the comments they deleted.
They're looking for a cost benefit analysis of taking the feat vs. taking nothing
That makes much more sense, mind editing that in?
But didn't want to give any details about the particular build.
ahhh
okay, then we should close that.
1:20 PM
I asked them to add something clarifying that they just wanted to examine taking the feat vs. not taking it, and they declined.
@ThomasMarkov yeeees, it was tricky though. I predict giving many bounties in my future...
@ThomasMarkov Yeah their comment showcases that the question shouldn't stay open.
@ThomasMarkov now can you help me pick an answer here?
@AncientSwordRage lol i have no idea
me neither
1:38 PM
@Akixkisu I have no idea why we would close it? We have a nearly identical 5e question that is open
@Medix2 how are these similar? That question that you linked has this "when will it deal more damage than not using it on average?" which defines it well enough.
I definitely read the new question as asking that exact same thing
"Is it a simple damage increase, circumstantial, or a trap?"
@Medix2 active language would solve this issue.
I read an incomplete question and a weird suggest me a build question merged with it.
here we go.
I definitely think the build part was added to try to scope a question that didn't need to be scoped in the first place
I also can't imagine any build could possibly benefit from this more than any other unless that build somehow always hits with everything
1:43 PM
Every question needs a scope.
But ah well, I asked a clarifying comment
This one is just unclear about what the scope is.
Didn't need to be further scoped***
To me it's perfectly clear XD
Well, now i just think Andras misunderstands the statistics, hmmm
It would be good if they state the actual thing that they want to resolve.
Which, as far as I can tell, they did... I'm just gonna write an answer
1:51 PM
The right answer is maximised DPR at epic play?
Or is it under what circumstances should one take it when playing a ranger that wants to maximise DPR at every level?
Is it generally an option that does one any good or completely bad when compared to all other options?
Or does it even make your character worse when compared to not taking it?
All of these would lead to different answers that currently seem equally correct.
And there are more there that one could cover.
That it is an 8th level class feat does some lifting limiting it down, but I don't see what approach here is clearly correct.
^ @Medix2 but maybe you read something there that clearly defines the issue.

Q: What information does the Intro to Adventurers League D&D Celebration day one segment cover?

AkixkisuWhat information does the Intro to Adventurers League D&D Celebration day one segment cover? I'm looking for a concise summary of the information contained in the convention segment.

I think you should include more context about the event.
why?
That doesn't seem necessary for anyone in the community that takes part in these conventions, it is clear and unique, and if you don't know it, then you are not possibly an expert on the subject.
added the year, I think that should do it.

1 hour later…
4:18 PM
@Akixkisu yeah things like year are good for the context. A link to the event might be good as well?
@Akixkisu I'm not entirely sure this sort of question is on topic, about as sure as I am that it is off topic. What similar questions do we have?
@AncientSwordRage did that.
@ThomasMarkov why would it be off-topic?
We have covered the topic since 2010, we just never get questions about it.
@Akixkisu I don’t have a particularly concrete reason, but I feel like “summarize this video for me” isn’t (or shouldn’t be) something that we handle.
4:34 PM
@ThomasMarkov the fact it comes from a video is sort of irrelevant? It seems like this is required for the convention some how though and I can see how, say somebody who can't access the video would need it summarised
If we handle what is the schedule of this event I see no reason why we shouldn't handle what is the content of this event.
@AncientSwordRage Okay, that makes sense.

Homebrew review is up for those who like to consider them.
@KorvinStarmast Left my critique in a comment.
Not getting the ref.
@KorvinStarmast Is your Watcher not the god Helm, The Watcher?
5:55 PM
It is the name in our campaign (where my bard is now 16) for The Grim Reaper. (FWIW, there is also a bugbear deity who is called The Watcher, or the one who watches, and his sigil is an eye, IIRC, in FR)
@NautArch had a barbarian who followed that deity in Nits's ToA campaign for the (far too) brief time he was with us
@KorvinStarmast I made some formatting changes and changed a couple of phrasings.
@KorvinStarmast power-wise it looks appropriate. I think the language needs a little rewording - dusk instead of sundown makes it standard (but there really is no issue with sundown). DC 17 is fine, and using up to 5 charges to upcast cause fear is also fine.
@KorvinStarmast I changed attacked to targeted
If you cast darkness with the reaction, does it impose disadvantgae on teh triggering attack?
@ThomasMarkov since you are still in the 5min window
enervation is still a typo
oh no
how do you spell it
it looks right to me
6:04 PM
Enervation is the right spelling
that's what it says?
envervation is wrong :)
I corrected that one already
oop
I'm in the wrong edit, my bad
That happens when you have two windows
You had me questioning everything.
6:09 PM
"When the wearer is targeted " is still a little iffy, I think.
"the wearer can use its reaction to expend 2 of the item’s charges to" feels like the wording you want, but to do what?
cast darkness before they are hit by a melee [...]?
@ThomasMarkov I'd rather you had not, given 'targeted's' weirdess. The idea behind it is "a melee weapon attack, a ranged weapon attack, a melee spell attack, a ranged melee attack" that requires a d20 roll to hit. (See PHB P. 193 / 196 on "how do you know if it's an attack?") - does that clarify my intent?
'targeted' with respect to an attack is pretty much the only unambiguous use case of the word in the entire corpus.
@Akixkisu Do you think that needs to be specified, like the shield spell? (Which can interrupt an attack)
@KorvinStarmast yes
OK, I have to go and do a few things for the missus, if you'd like to suggest phrasing/wording to make that fit, drop it in a comment and I'll likely plug that in when I get back. Thanks to you both! 😊
6:15 PM
From the basic outline of making an attack:
> 1. Choose a target. Pick a target within your attack's range: a creature, an object, or a location.
I'm not aware of any feature which complicates this particular use of 'target'
All the weirdness about targeting is about features that are not just making an attack.
@ThomasMarkov the targeting and then triggering attack can miss something something
The word target is not the issue
It is just incomplete
(the conditional)
I think it needs to be clarified when exactly the reaction occurs and the spell is cast
Is it before or after the attack roll
Cuz before the attack roll would impose dis
after the attack roll would be...just dark.
before
The struggle is real.
The darkness here works like the shield spell in that it imposes a condition on the triggering attack.
Before the triggering attack resolves.
6:20 PM
aight, I'll see if I can come up with a good warning.
wording.
@Akixkisu you aint kidding lol
maybe just include a parenthetical? "(this reaction occurs before the attack roll is made)"
That doesn't sound very portable.
(but would work at the table)
You could make it clear the darkness may impose disadv on the attack
When I've written homebrew stuff for my players, I generally try to follow the game's language conventions, but I frequently just include plain speak parentheticals explaining what i mean.
IIRC shield doesn't have any specific wording to be before resolve, other than the effect needing it
@Someone_Evil Shield uses the timewarp thing.
6:25 PM
When the wearer is choosen as the target of [attacks] the wearer can use its reaction to expend 2 of the item’s charges to cast darkness before the triggering attack resolves - would work but it sounds bad
"sounds bad" isn't an issue if the intended meaning is clear.
What's wrong with just "is attacked"?
When the wearer is chosen as the target of a melee or ranged attack, the wearer can use its reaction to expend 2 of the item’s charges to cast darkness before the triggering attack modifiers are determined.
I'd probably also break it up so you get the timing clarification as it's own, clear sentence
That is the no-nonesense phrasing.
6:29 PM
@Someone_Evil it doesn't clearly tell me if the reaction triggers before or after the attack roll
With that phrasing we probably avoid most of the weird cases.
If part of the effect is to impose disadvantage on the roll, it needs to be before. It should mostly solve itself
@Akixkisu Tbh, this is better than a lot of features. Most features pay no mind to the clearly spelled out ordering of making an attack.
I'm glad that you like it.
To the point that readers will likely not catch on that you are referencing that section of the rules.
:/
6:33 PM
Ah, but it is still unambigious - I think :)
It's still as unambiguous as it's gonna get, I think.
"I think" -Akixkisu and/or Thomas
GcL
GcL
@Akixkisu Is this 3.5 or pathfinder?
@GcL 5e
GcL
GcL
Is that trying to say, the wielder gets to cast darkness before the attack roll is resolved such that the attacker is attacking into darkness?
@GcL yes
Unless I misunderstood Korvin (I hope I didn't).
GcL
GcL
6:39 PM
Hmmm.... might just say that instead of leaving it to the implication of "before modifiers... etc."
Let me see if any complications arise, but maybe either work.
GcL
GcL
The "before modifiers" language tripped me up. It's the kind of thing I'd expect from a 3.5 mechanic.
Still needs the "triggering" attack roll (and the whole expend charges spiel), but that works.
can instead of gets
GcL
GcL
If this is homebrew, add an footnote: "you don't get to weasel out of making the attack, Kyle."
Idk, both phrasings sound dubious from a word-smithing perspective, tbh.
6:44 PM
@GcL man, why is it always kyle.
@GcL The intention is portable homebrew.
But maybe that makes it charming?
Idk.
GcL
GcL
I'd state the intent clearly. When attacked; use reaction; cast darkness on self; causing attacker to make the attack into the darkness spell.
@GcL I'm not 100% sure that on-self is always the intention or if Korvin wants the inbuilt flexibility.
GcL
GcL
Otherwise, you'll get RAI arguments, "I can cancel the attack" and get into a litany of small points about the ordering of things, free will, if socks are shoes, and if anything actually exists.
I guess we need him for that :)
6:46 PM
@GcL do chairs exist?
I think the "chosen" leaves no room for that in my phrasing.
@DForck42 tables
GcL
GcL
@DForck42 stuff exists.
Unless you are talking about faculty, then if and only if you have tenure.
@Akixkisu That's just a chair that you don't sit in.
Jumble brain.
6:48 PM
@ThomasMarkov all things are chairs
Refering to me.
@DForck42 But not all chairs are things.
GcL
GcL
@Akixkisu That's a bit meta. The wielder knows somehow that they've been choosen as the target of an attack before anything actually happens? That meaningful glance in the heat of combat... I just know I'd been choosen by the lich king... as their date for prom.
@GcL it is an order of logic thing.
@ThomasMarkov at lunch time, doubly so
6:50 PM
Timewarp.
like the shield spell.
GcL
GcL
@Akixkisu Which is meta.
Which is fine.
@GcL It's an inbuilt sixth sense granted by the divine magic The Watcher has infused the cloak with.
GcL
GcL
Shield doesn't operate when you've been choosen as a target.
@ThomasMarkov I'd love a cloak that lets me know when an arch magi mummy decides they're going to ask me out.
@GcL It does, but admittedly not as I phrased it; Korvin's effect is unique in that regard ;)
(as meaning in the same manner as)
GcL
GcL
6:57 PM
You have to be hit by an attack to trigger shield.
Which means that you are chosen.
GcL
GcL
Rolls already made as well.
Yup; making the effect unique in the sense that we aren't actually timewarping by intersecting the effect in the right place.
So only borrowing the good parts from shield and leaving the ugly.
But also introducing game abstracting into our game.
Which is a bit meta.
GcL
GcL
You could try out the wording "when a foe begins an attack against the wearer"
Does bend luck or portent have wording about adding advantage/disadvantage to a roll?
@Akixkisu That's most of the way there ... but it is a bit heavy ... thinking ...
@Akixkisu yes, the idea I had was that the attack triggers the reaction, and the reaction is an interrupt in the same way as shield is, but (for me) it doesn't matter if the attack would have hit or not (which shield implies) ... so I am not surprised my wording there needs work.
7:05 PM
@GcL just gonna seagull on this: "When the wearer becomes the target of an attack"
@KorvinStarmast It could replace "When the wearer is targeted by a melee or ranged attack, the mantle can be used to cast darkness as a Reaction if there are enough charges remaining."
GcL
GcL
@DForck42 I like that wording better. It doesn't imply some weird meta knowledge about the intent of a foe before any action has started.
@Akixkisu I think that GcL has captured the idea I had in mind.
hellish rebuke is worded as: casting time - 1 reaction*
with the * being: which you take in response to being damaged by a creature within 60 feet of you that you can see
GcL
GcL
That's like shield where you have to be hit by an attack.
7:07 PM
so i think changing it to * - which you take when you become the target of an attack
@KorvinStarmast I made a few comments on what would need adjustments when you go with GcL'S phrasing - please consider them :)
GcL
GcL
This is an "oh crap, duck!" item.
And I don't want "have to be hit" to be a requirement, just being attacked. Am I breaking something by taking it in this direction?
@Akixkisu Thank you! I do appreciate everyone's help in trying to get this right. Crowd Sourcing of good ideas done right ... :)
GcL
GcL
@KorvinStarmast I don't think so. I think being the target of an impending attack from a foe you can see is a thing a character is a perceivable thing.
@KorvinStarmast You aren't breaking anything, you are creating a new kind of effect thhough :)
7:09 PM
@Akixkisu shoot, is there no other item, feature, or spell that uses reaction like that?
GcL
GcL
@Akixkisu I concur. This is slightly different from shield, or the rebukes.
@KorvinStarmast To the best of my knowledge, not a single one.
GcL
GcL
Portent might be the closest.
That's straight up replacing rolls though. I'm trying to find the fighter or paladin ability that allows you to impose disadvantage on an attack being made.
@Akixkisu well how about that, I figured that something would have already used 'being attacked' as the trigger.
GcL
GcL
I think that would be the closest, but I can't recall it off hand.
7:11 PM
@GcL i think it's a feat
@GcL protection fighting style, or the Interceptoin fighting style?
Paladin of Glory has a reduction power, let me check, Tasha's.
magic item wise "If the creature would be knocked prone, it can use its reaction to expend 1 charge to avoid being knocked prone." is somewhat close.
But it also doesn't interject itself.
defensive duelist: "...another creature hits you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to add your proficiency bonus to your AC for that attack, potentially causing the attack to miss you."
gaah, nope, that one still requires "if hit" like Bardic Cutting Words, or shield ...
This feature, though, won't help you against stuff with blindsight or tremor sense, or with blind fighting fighting style, which is fine ...
sentinel: "When a creature within 5 feet of you makes an attack against a target other than you (and that target doesn’t have this feat), you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against the attacking creature"
GcL
GcL
7:13 PM
@KorvinStarmast Dunno. Still looking. Might be a monster leadership ability.
@DForck42 That's a clever find.
@DForck42 has the issue that we want the miss to be unambigious
It works for interception when it doesn't matter that they hit you - and introduces a whole host of when does what resolve questions.
@DForck42 that's similar to what I am getting at; the attack ends up being an attack at a creature inside the darkness spell, with all that attends. If the attacker has devils sight, for example, nothing happens differently. :) Except nobody outside the darkness knows what's going on in there! 😮
GcL
GcL
Parry is kind of close: " The knight adds 2 to its AC against one melee attack that would hit it. To do so, the knight must see the attacker and be wielding a melee weapon."
(which we can answer, but there is a lot of onus on the dm with that phrasing)
You also should figure out if you want the wearer to cast darkness on themselves or anywhere :)
(especially if that would be at the opponent who makes a ranged attack)
Maybe I should put the artistic notes at the end, like footnotes?
GcL
GcL
7:17 PM
Found one. "Protection. When an attacker the giant can see makes an attack roll against a creature within 10 feet of the giant, the giant can impose disadvantage on the attack roll."
ah but there is certainty in that
@Akixkisu @GcL Thank you. Oh, yes, darkness is cast on the cloak or on the wearer... on the wearer.
That darkness causes disadvantage is a "maybe"
No, on the cloak. (IIRC, you can't cast darkness on a creature)
GcL
GcL
You'd have to add a bit of explanation after casting darkness regarding that it will impose disadvantage on the triggering attack unless the attacker is not at disadvantage for attacking into magical darkness... e.g. Warlock Eyes of the I see through darkness feature.
7:19 PM
i haven't seen the original wording, but "When the wearer becomes the target of an attack, as a reaction [item] Magical darkness spreads from the wearer to fill a 15-foot-radius sphere for the duration. The darkness spreads around corners. A creature with darkvision can't seen through this darkness, and nonmagical light can't illuminate it.
GcL
GcL
@KorvinStarmast The location the wearer is currently occupying.
@DForck42 that would be too strong
GcL
GcL
If you can cast magic missile at the darkness, you can definitely cast darkness on yourself, and believe in a thing called love.
@GcL yes, that's the better idea.
If the point you choose is on an object you are holding or one that isn’t being worn or carried, the darkness emanates from the object and moves with it. Completely covering the source of the darkness with an opaque object, such as a bowl or a helm, blocks the darkness.

If any of this spell’s area overlaps with an area of light created by a spell of 2nd Level or lower, the spell that created the light is dispelled.
Then we would have to adjust rarity
GcL
GcL
7:21 PM
@KorvinStarmast I wouldn't give the wielder a choice. Just a stock, this is the location the item chooses when you hit the panic button.
@Akixkisu i left out the part of the original spell that dispells light spells, could also lower the radius. Darkness is a level 2 spell
I had forgotten that the items that are worn can't have darkness cast on them, so it need to be "at this location" to be consistent with the spell"
@GcL Yes, you captured my intent perfectly there!
GcL
GcL
@KorvinStarmast That also would allow the wearer to skulk out in the opposite direction.
but also keep in mind that if the party doesn't have things to let them see through the darkness, they're also sol
@GcL yep
@DForck42 Yes! That's one of the down sides of hitting the panic button! 😊
7:22 PM
@DForck42 ah darkness itself is fine, just the wording there doesn't quite work out - oh well.
If we just treat it as casting the darkness spell, then no further provisions are needed since it has to be the location ... or should I specify?
I don't want them to be casting it at a long range, the idea is 'shrouded in darkness' and "shadows of Moil' is too high of a level and also for my money too complex.
@KorvinStarmast centered on the mantle
Or should I do that instead?
@Akixkisu Centered on the wearer, who is attuned to and wearing the mantle.
GcL
GcL
Centered on the location of the wearer?
I think that might give the impression of moving darkness
(even though the wording is fine)
7:26 PM
When the wearer is targeted by a melee or ranged attack, the mantle can be used to cast darkness as a Reaction at the wearer's location if there are enough charges remaining @GcL does that scan OK? .
"while wearing [item], whenever the wearer becomes the target of an attack, [item] casts Darkness centered on the wearer. the darkness does not move with the wearer."
In the space of the wearer would make it work for grids.
@DForck42 That's the intention.
but has the issue of size
Now the word smithing gets into the last ten percent
7:28 PM
Unfortunately I will have to abandon that for the moment, but I will make sure to have a look at it latter- to do some poking to see if it holds up.
@Akixkisu Thank you, I appreciate the assistance and second, third, and fourth sets of eyes on this.
i made up some potions that where in an alchemist's lab that my players bottled up: 2 yellow - Stimulates its drinker’s natural healing ability. The target regains 2d8 + 7 hit points. After an hour the creature becomes partially transparent and takes 1d6 psychic damage after a short or long rest. The transparent effect lasts 1d4 days.

1 orange - Upon drinking, all negative conditions are removed, health is restored to full, and any injuries are instantly healed. After 1 minute, the creature becomes unconscious for 1d4 hours.
GcL
GcL
@KorvinStarmast That doesn't trip me up.
I go on to clarify your intent and the effect that it can impose disadvantage on the triggering attack.
Kind of a mashup of the warforged soldier protect ability and the shield spell's description.

@BeastlyGerbil lol @AncientSwordRage is secretly a time traveling ferret
Also.... Are you following my meta posts?
7:40 PM
@AncientSwordRage No, I checked meta and saw your post. Didnt realize it was you till I saw your furry mug in one of the screen shots.
"Furry Mug" 😁
I wonder, if you start adding the "bad" character tropes together, do you eventually come back around to something worthwhile?
How well does pacifist lonewolfedgelord horny bard play? Who's to say? Needs playtesting.
> [Rimmer] described that, even though all its ingredients were wrong, somehow it made a right. He likened this fact to Lister's personality.

@ThomasMarkov might work
@AncientSwordRage I think the lone wolf facet will regulate the other two. He's a lonewolf, so he wont interfere with the party fighting even though he's a pacifist, and he's a lonewolf, so he won't actually express his horny bardness to others.

@ThomasMarkov Is this asking the age old question, if a horny lone wolf pines in the forest, does anyone even know they're barking up the wrong tree?
In other news, teach your horses to sing, folks. Barding a mount could make the difference between life and death in combat.
@ThomasMarkov ok, but why do they stick with the party?

Q: Is Deadly Aim worth it?

AndrásDeadly Aim is very similar to Power Attack in PF1, in that it reduces your chance to hit in exchange for some extra damage. In PF2 however the enemies' AC increases together with your attacks, so -2 penalty seems really big against +4 damage, espcecially for an 8th level class feat. Is it a simpl...

@AncientSwordRage Their parents are dead.
@GcL the rate case of a bard wanting to be written about, not the other way around?

@ThomasMarkov Hardly a reason to be with this specific party. They could throw their pity party anywhere with anyone.
Why does the party stick with the bard?
@Someone_Evil the bard is their younger cousin, and their parents said they had to include them on the adventure.

@vicky_molokh-unsilenceMonica I posted a thing here that I meant to post in a mod-only chat. If I wanted it to be able to be seen, I wouldn't have deleted it in the first place. I suppose moving it to the Trashcan was unnecessary, given that I'd already edited it to a period, purged the history, and then deleted it, but better safe than sorry...

Can anybody shed some light on why my custom flag on an MSE question as "Doesn't belong on this site" was declined? I have no idea if this link works for other people, but I am confused and thinking about opening a Meta there
It would only work for you and those with diamonds on MSE. What question what it?
Ah, apparently I was supposed to click through three sub-menus to arrive at the appropriate tag...
Oh, flagging something as off topic? Yeah, gotten real counter-intutive
Flag > Needs Improvement > Community-Specific Reason > Off-Topic
I don't see how you're supposed to get through that without knowing "Needs Improvement" is code for "Should be closed"
10:11 PM
Yeah, that strikes me as very unintuitive
For the normal close reasons it sorta makes sense, except I'm not sure flagging something for "should be better" is gonna occur to a lot of users who don't have experience (and 3k+) from somewhere else on the network
Luckily the small text at least says "This question needs updates from the author in order to be answered well or belongs on another Stack Exchange site."
Sure, but then you've already thought to open the flag menu
I also wonder what the difference is between "This question does not appear to be about the software that powers the Stack Exchange network, within the scope defined in the help center." and "This question has nothing to do with the software that powers the Stack Exchange network."
@V2Blast Ah. Thanks for the elaboration.
10:20 PM
@Medix2 IIRC Blatantly off-topic is a special close reason that's only on MSE, along with No longer reproducible. It's mostly a holdover thing, I think

Q: Do you gain the benefit of the rogue's Reliable Talent feature if the roll is replaced with Portent?

CodexHere's what each class features says: Reliable Talent Whenever you make an ability check that lets you add your proficiency bonus, you can treat a d20 roll of 9 or lower as a 10. and Portent When you finish a long rest, roll two d20s and record the numbers rolled. You can replace any attack ro...
