Q: Armor of Agathys on a Conquest Paladin

MaxPowerNew DM here. I have a player running an Oath of Conquest paladin. He makes a pretty convincing argument that as he increases his armor class, he becomes harder to hit, and Armor of Agathys triggers less often; but increased armor often translates into increased weight. Wouldn't the increase in ...

@ThomasMarkov it does. I apologize for the confusion, it would seem my question was overly broad. What I was really looking for was contained in the link in the accepted answer — MaxPower 4 hours ago
I'm really glad that got sorted

I'm kinda disappointed that this title didn't turn out to be about a technique for a fourth-wall-breaking horror game.

9:03 AM
@BESW I'd play in that game

Q: What are the consequences of putting an inside-out bag of holding inside a bag of holding?

Marcus MellorDisclaimer: I'm new to D&D 5e and am currently playing my first campaign. Recently we had a situation where another player had acquired a large number of bags of holding. Initially he was going to store the extras inside a single bag of holding, but the rest of the party quickly objected to this ...

A: Does shoving a creature break its grapple on another?

Matt VincentYes, it does break the grapple (if you end up outside of its reach) Thunderwave says: a creature takes 2d8 thunder damage and is pushed 10 feet away from you Shoving uses a similar wording: If you win the contest, you either knock the target prone or push it 5 feet away from you Assuming you ...

@HotRPGQuestions idea: bag of holding cannon. components: one bag of holding and whole lot of whatever you want to fire at someone. aim bag and invert. for friends, roses maybe. for enemies, knives probably. for frenemies, a mix of both? ensure bystanders are cleared away from the area and wear safety equipment.

@TheDragonOfFlame Have your players complained about it, or is this just something you perceive as an issue as a DM?

Answers like this make me wish I could post negative bounties. Mearls’ ruling there is total nonsense and there’s nothing we can do about it being stuck at the top.

@ThomasMarkov We can make accepted answers not auto-top. Also, theoretically, mods might be able to remove accepts but saying it helps especially in that case would be difficult

@Medix2 that’s the highest scoring answer.
Wait no it’s not
Oh good, I also downvotes the highest scoring answer.

Does anybody have a good reason (textual evidence/analysis) that Brutal Critical's extra di(c)e aren't doubled by a crit?

@Medix2 “when determining the extra damage”
So to determine the extra damage from a critical, you roll the damage dice again, it is at that time brutal critical instructs you to roll one additional die.

Yeah I was thinking that might be what I have to go on

It seems pretty straightforward to me.
The critical hit rule says: “ When you score a critical hit, you get to roll extra dice”
So when determining the extra dice, add one die than what you would normally.
