Tried out Lancer yesterday.
- Start was slow, but I wouldn't even entirely blame that on the game being in text, since clearly everyone or nearly everyone was doing a lot of lookups and thinking before replying.
- The importance of positioning is cool. This seems to be achieved by the largely artificial calibration of movement and range ratios to be comparable (per turn). And the importance of cover/obstacles.
- I want to see more reaction play, but so far that looks promising too.
- I am thinking that a lot of the win-or-lose outcome depends on ability to maintain top shape. I expect thin…
