@HotRPGQuestions that's a fantastic answer

@AncientSwordRage I have a feeling that you're either missing an "a" between "that's" and "fantastic", or (less likely) you're missing a comma between "fantastic" and "answer"

@bobble not going for "that's Fanta's tic answer"?

@AncientSwordRage also a possibility!

I love the idea of puzzling, because I love riddles and word play, but I'm not convinced it works as a site

hmm, as a very biased individual, I think it works if given enough prodding and active mods

12:51 AM
Also a possibility

We're dealing with two crises at the moment, though: a wave of attempted cheating and a disgruntled user who is expressing their dislike of people posting math puzzles by posting math puzzles. (No, don't ask me to explain that, I can't understand it myself)
(hopefully the cheating will die down once the contest thingymabobber ends, or we manage to ban enough users)
(and the second one is a much more minor crisis but I'm annoyed at it since they called me stupid)

Both sound rough

What specific things do you think make Puzzling a site which wouldn't work?

It's too easy to set a challenge that has multiple correct answers, which in itself isn't a bad thing, but picking between correct answers amounts to "guess what I'm thinking".

May I introduce you to our custom close reason for "speculative answers"?

Q: Can a Warforged's Integrated Protection feature be bypassed by some magical means?

Justin PowellDM is saying that the armor my Warforged is "wearing" can be removed using magic spells. My question is, what spells would remove armor and would they remove the armor on a warforged with integrated protection?

I don't think that's used enough

Point to some examples?

I can't remember now, but I've ended up getting questions closed because of it
Maybe things have changed in the last 2-3 years?

... if the question got closed, then why do you think the close reason isn't used enough?
In my experience, the close reason is used in two main ways:
- a puzzle is blatantly, obviously not defined enough -> quick close
- a few answers have rolled in, all of which are decent -> close with a few answers already there
"Open-ended" puzzles (where it's clear no answer can be guaranteed the best, e.g. "what's the longest sentence you can make with anagrams?") were declared off-topic *rummages* 'bout two years back

@bobble because the question I remember that needed closing had been open for a while and had gotten several highly upvoted answers

Q: How was the murder committed?

GridAlienAlice's body is found inside a locked room. She had been getting ready for the day, and had only just gotten out of the shower and had written a letter when she died. The police had to break the door down in order to enter. In the room they find the following: A pen A cup of tea, half drunk Tr...

This was the one that slipped through
I suspect there have been many others
The problem is, if these go unnoticed, then we don't even know we have a problem

I would've closed that after three or four answers or so. I try to be pretty aggressive with close votes so that questions get in the queue.

@MikeQ @V2Blast if you have any comments you'd like to add to your recollection of that fight in the Abbey please offer them and I'll fold them into the answer.

@bobble that was a good year then

The puzzles that I like participating in don't have a multiple-answer problem: crosswords and grid-deductions
I have a single situation puzzle which has one very good intended answer, and one extraordinarily week unintended one

I keep thinking that feed item is "Would Truesight detect a Skunk?"

Well, it's always a good idea to detect skunks.

Q: Would Truesight detect a Skulk?

aslumSkulks list 3 conditions that can see through their invisibility (mirrors, special candles and preteens) but it doesn't list Truesight as one of the means, and further the ability is called Fallible Invisibility.

Q: Is one of the Isle of the Abbey encounters overpowered?

OmortisSo I did the math for the encounter in location 11 in The Isle Of The Abbey and I came up with 7200 XP. This is way, way more difficult than even a "deadly" encounter for 6 5th level characters (the module description states that it is designed for 4-6 5th level characters). Assuming the party do...

Can we get some more close votes here
It cleared queue for leave open, but it is not at all clear what the question is asking.

Have you changed your mind then with the answer?

@Someone_Evil the question is now a dupe of rpg.stackexchange.com/q/181084/62294

Q: Does a 3rd-level Wolf Totem barbarian give advantage to friendly summoned creatures and other allies that are not strictly speaking "friends"?

Guillaume F.A 3rd-level Wolf Totem Barbarian has the following feature: While you're raging, your friends have advantage on melee attack rolls against any creature within 5 feet of you that is hostile to you. The spirit of the wolf makes you a leader of hunters. I wonder what qualifies as a "friend" for th...

Q: Can I take Extra Followers more than once?

LtEntropyI can't seem to find information on whether you can take feats more than once. A number of feats say that you can, but I can't seem to find the general rule that says one way or another. If I could take Extra Followers more than once, I assume that the number would go up x2 each time.
