@Rubiksmoose Another fun co-op game I've played with my SO recently is Quirky Circuits. Most of the people I've played it with have nothing short of loved it, although like most co-op games it has a potential for frustration if there's some player who doesn't care about playing for the team. It's also scenario-based, so being an owner of the game with a varied company to play with, you get to see Level 1 OFTEN.

I've tried forbidden desert many times and have yet to win a game

I must be heading to sleep now
It's getting late

anyone here play go?
"So GO" in some parts of the world
its 100% worth it for zero build time, all high strategy/tactics
and best of all, no numbers to skew
but skilled players are like unicorn rare

I wrote my BSc thesis about go AI, never played a match though :>

it is humbling

10:08 PM
(fitting, given how MCTS is the heuristic-free algorithm to play games)

and that being said be me is something

But now, sleep -->

"sleep" waves hand

1d20

10:11 PM
welp <passes out>
@JeffreyWitty <sleep mumbling> yeah but perfect information

lol
who ever just answered my question is the best written human being i have ever interact with
interacted*

Kryan knows their games
DaleM, too
Their command of mechanics and lore across the versions is really amazing

it truly is
things are so jumbled now it seems, & we that GG being ousted was bad
thought**

??

But from what I'm getting in answers, I think I really need to consider abandoning DnD (again) for pathfinder 2e
lol
@NautArch back when I was young GG was basicly fired from TSR
@NautArch we all cryed "the sky is falling"... but it didnt
@NautArch by "jumbled" i mean player base, now there are many options

10:23 PM
Oh, Gary gygax!
I started out with AD&D, but took a very long break until 5e

@NautArch when I was starting you could go high fantasy, low fantasy, sci-fi or wild west
that almost summed up all the "played" systems

@JeffreyWitty Is that the sequel to the sequel of the popular Nintendo 64 3D platforming game made by Rare Software involving a bear and a bird in said bear's backpack?
Banjo-Tooie is a platform video game developed by Rare and originally released for the Nintendo 64 console in 2000. It is the second game in the Banjo-Kazooie series and the sequel to Banjo-Kazooie. The game follows series protagonists Banjo and Kazooie as they attempt to stop the plans of the witch Gruntilda and her two sisters, who intend to vapourise the inhabitants of the game's world. The game features worlds that are significantly larger than those of its predecessor, requiring the player to complete challenges such as solving puzzles, jumping over obstacles, collecting items, and defeating...

I think of that every time someone says "2e".

oh my, I was old, even for that my friend
in 2000 i was about 20
well 21
u wanna pull out some Qbert or zork, i got u
@Yuuki You played Berzerk, thats a game lol

10:28 PM
Kickstarter: Pasión de las Pasiones by Brandon Leon-Gambetta. A tabletop role-playing game of deception, desire, and passion.

anyone tried "Cortex System" games

@JeffreyWitty Baduk? Yup.

@nitsua60 yes

@JeffreyWitty Cortex, or Cortex Plus?

I was schooled so badly for a year i almost gave up

10:34 PM
I'm super interested in trying Faith Corps, which is a mashup of Cortex Plus and Fate Accelerated.

@BESW its new to me...today 5 min ago
I live in the city with the longest running DnD campaign ever btw 35 years
I really need a super tight rules system, seems like I might look at pathfinder
or atleast a 2.1 pillar of play system

By "tight" what do you mean?

@BESW where needing a ruling is a once in a blue moon event
because the text states the exact mechanical results

d20 System games and its relatives, which include Pathfinder, tend to be sprawling and internally inconsistent, especially (like Pathfinder) when their primary model is constantly releasing new subsystems and additional rules exceptions.
D&D-likes also tend to only provide clear non-narrative results for combat-related outcomes, leaving the rest of the narrative as freeform roleplay with loose mechanical support.

@BESW suggestion of a system that has heavy rule/equipment interaction. With a focus on "dungeon delving" VS lots of events like "having drinks with a local merchant to soften him up to... slip out a needed detail"
as the local AL group spends 80% of a session "acting"

10:44 PM
I'm probably not the best person to make that sort of recommendation, as outside of conversations in spaces like this chat I haven't engaged with that sort of game in eight years.

fair enough

D&D 4e was an amazingly good tactical combat game with better, clearer rules interactions than D&D 3.5, 5e, or Pathfinder.

i'm pleased to seethe wealth of information here
@BESW 4e killed my gaming group
it split everyone

But they've made it very difficult to play easily nowadays, having shut down all of the active support for a system that was challenging to play exclusively out of the books.

@JeffreyWitty I haven't played AL, but that could simply be the DM/table you happened to join.
My group tends to have very little roleplay and much more combat.

10:46 PM
@JeffreyWitty Were the sourcebooks that heavy and sharp?

@NautArch i think its my area

Maybe, but my gut thinks it's less about region and more about that particular DM/table of people.

@Someone_Evil no but the arguments it caused had tongues like blades
1/2 of everyone wanted to migrate away
Then the "to what system"... split everyone into other groups

GcL
@JeffreyWitty have you ever looked at Ars Magica?

@JeffreyWitty 4e saved my gaming group. It alleviated mounting frustrations around the prevalence of 3.5's inconsistency between narrative and mechanical import that turned cool-sounding ideas into agency dumps.

10:50 PM
I moved on to W40k & fantasy after that

It also gave us schema for moving into Fate Core, which quickly became our go-to system for many years.

My group went away to palladem RPG, rifts and WoD respectfully
I went to rifts for a time

GcL
@JeffreyWitty which was your favorite?

but I left the group due to super slow play and poor magic system
humm
lke after dnd
like*
@GcL I have best memories of 90 to 96

GcL
@JeffreyWitty what did you like about it?
That was AD&D 2e, right?

10:55 PM
@GcL I honestly would say it was a combination. But it was mainly thats where i learned to fit my style to the things we were doing (complex combat in tatical hard places)
yes AD&D days
I liked running 23 scenarios through my head with a 30 second limit on decision
ok bounce lightning bolt off this wall
it will travel so far to this wall, bounce again......
@GcL things felt deadly, mis-steps could cost ANOTHER pc's life, I truly felt the hero (if i lived)

Braille character sheets! Looks like it's for 5e.

That would be slightly sad if it wasnt an option

Kickstarter: The Great Bork Team by Haiduc. An rpg zine about 3 sled dogs on a perilous trip home.

Thats Canadian
I know the middle dog personally

@BESW That does indeed look to be a 5e sheet. That's great to see.

11:09 PM
What about dice?
could they be braile

Kickstarter: Princess World by Kevin Petker. A Game of Girls who Rule. #PrincessWorld @PrincessWorldRP

@JeffreyWitty Braille dice does give several results on a popular search engine

There are a lot of braille dice options, but feeling the dice without knocking them over is a challenge to anyone who has manual dexterity challenges.
Dice-rolling apps with TTS interfaces are generally more seamless to integrate into play.

Someone kickstart "Sasquatch: A Game of Stealth & Big Feet"
I would try it just for the title
hold on....

There's so many great Kickstarters out right now...

11:15 PM
Why are we talking about braille?
I'm trying to figure out what I missed

@BESW the game "Kick-Started", a multi stage game where you fund a product you never make, attempting to escape with the cash??

Get in on For the Honor (A She-Ra Inspired Gm-less ttrpg about powerful heroes fighting to make the world a better place) and Space Goblins! RPG (A chaotic and quick roleplaying game of goblins hurtling through space!), they're in their last hours/days!
9 mins ago, by BESW
Braille character sheets! Looks like it's for 5e.

Space goblins? how could that not be good

@BESW ah, so that was apropos of nothing. got it.
I thought there was a tie-in that I couldn't find.

@JeffreyWitty And optionally, you can use Legos to represent your progress by building and unbuilding your ship as you get junk and have junk knocked off.
@goodguy5 I'm just going through my morning's feeds and sharing interesting links.

11:18 PM
that "For The Honor" looks neat, I did love me some he-man

@BESW fair enough

@JeffreyWitty I've been using Masters of Umdaar for games in the She-Ra aesthetic, but it's not been totally satisfying because I still have to do a lot of the heavy lifting.

Q: How is the Blood War a balanced conflict?

VigilThere are 2 sides to the Blood War. The Nine Hells and the Abyss. Devils, from the Nine Hells: Are Lawful, orderly and disciplined Take the souls of mortals they can make deals with either in life or after death, and these souls are their only source of new devils. Their variants listed in the...

It's got that campy charm, but it helped kill its distributor and is arguably a contributor to the franchise going into hibernation.

11:38 PM
Kickstarter: Winter Harvest by Sandy Pug Games. A #ZineQuest tabletop RPG about woodland animals building a home to withstand the seasons using the power of memories, food & community.

Zine quest... they refrence this
many of them
this is "always" german?

user15026
@BESW I backed this, I am SO excited.

Yup, ZQ is why there's so many awesome indie Kickstarters happening right now.

user15026
@BESW It's terrible for my wallet :P

@Ash MOOD.

11:40 PM
system that went open?

Ben
Literal people can really be frustrating sometimes

@Ben is there an other type of person?

Ben
Ok; people that are too literal can be frustrating sometimes

frustrating not literal
lol

ZineQuest is a month-long event in which Kickstarter encourages indie creators to make small low-fi TRPG projects.

11:42 PM
<< have been aqused of being frustrating

Ben
I'm getting an ad developed for one of our products. A week ago I showed the boss the style the animator would be using. Today I showed them a video demonstrating the voice over.

@Ben honestly I find fun people bothersome
@Ben never on point or sharp

user15026
@BESW ....you know, I never ever thought to look up what ZineQuest was :P so thank you for that

Ben
They thought the video showing the voice over was the video style they'd be using for the ad. He went up in a stink screaming about "That's not what I wanted", so I had to go back through the whole thing all over again, explaining each thing step by step, just for him to go "Oh. Ok yeah that's fine".
We have two days to get this done and he's turned around and said "that's not what I want" kinda got me fired up a bit. Stress levels through the roof! Lol

@Ben Ah yes, the Lorem Ipsum Client.

Ben
11:45 PM
I haven't used Lorem Ipsum since highschool haha
That was such a useful tool. I'm just kinda glad I'm not in design

@Ben ppl that want something rarly know what it takes to create it (and they do not care)

Ben

Ben
@JeffreyWitty Until you create the wrong thing, of course

@Ben "your a pro we trusted you"

Ben
11:50 PM
Because that's not what they wanted. :P
Anyway. Sorry for the sudden outburst... let me start over.
Morning all
How goes the day?

<ITAG>!
@Ben you need an expert

@Ben I am once more in the abyss of Pathfinder 1e NPC customization. 'Tis a strange place.

user15026
@Ben I have an hour left in my workday, so that's nice

Ben
@goodguy5 At project management? Where do I find one of those? :P

@goodguy5 I used to be a consultant and this video was very much enjoyed and known by my peers lol....

Ben
11:55 PM
@MikeQ I saw "Abyss" and "Pathfinder" and for some reason thought "Pathfinder has the Oolacile DLC??"
@Ash Score!

@doppelgreener It's like every meeting

@goodguy5 oh i love that sketch XD

Our organisation made a point of training us through scenarios as bad as this and worse

Someone linked it to me a while ago when i was complaining about my job XD

So that we didn't land ourselves or the company in hot water

user15026
11:57 PM
@Ben Been a bit of a rough day, so I will be happy to get to head home.

Ben
@goodguy5 Ah yes. I remember this
@Ash Double score. Lol

user15026
@Ben Yep! Home to spouse, cat, and maybe pizza.
