@BESW 🎱 signs point to yes

The Stack format is, generally, one that supports the seeking and transmission of factual information. When you ask a question here, even in a Stack as inherently subjective as an RPG Stack, you do so in the reasonable expectation that said information will be as factual and supported as possible. Additional opinions and warnings - like mine against combining 3pp - might be added if there's experience or facts to back them up, but this isn't really the place to as a "should I" sort of question, or to receive a "you should" sort of answer.
Anything wrong with that that The Dread Mods can detect?
'm tryin' earnestly to help this guy out
But it's starting to feel like he's not after things that are on our room service menu

@Lord_Gareth I might split some hairs about "factual information." It's more like "well-supported solutions."

@BESW Fair enough, but I'm not sure we're at a stage with this user's needs where splitting hairs will be helpful to them.

We can offer "you should" answers, is the thing.
Just... only if the question is phrased in terms of a problem to be solved. I dunno what post you're dealing with.

Q: Range Touch Attacks, and Path of War Maneuvers?

Jhyarelle SilverUsing Adamant Entertainment's Warlock class School Ability - Arcane Bolt, a ranged touch attack. Arcane Bolt (Su): You can make a ranged touch attack that does 1d6 points of damage, +1d6 for every two warlock levels. The warlock may choose whether the damage is acid, cold, electricity, or fir...

One that is very definitely about the factual transmission of information.
(And my own work but, y'know, Death of the Author)

[quick glance]

Like, the question he asked isn't "Is this a reasonable house rule?" The answer there still probably would have been "no" but it'd be a very different question.

....yeeeeah, I'm gonna say that the querent definitely has a specific use case in mind and is looking for support for his implementation but doesn't want to say what the implementation is.
It looks a lot like other questions we've had where it turns out there's some kind of player/GM squabble and one guy is hoping that saying "Look, this website says I'm right!" will shut up the other person.

That's kinda his brand thus far. My team's been answering a lot of questions from him on PoW which are rooted in...highly dubious RAW.
And like, I don't wanna say or imply malicious intent
The guy seems earnest
Which is why I'm trying to walk him through the bit where he's not really asking the questions he needs to get the answers he seems to be after.
We're not comic book lawyers, we're not gonna appear before his GM in robes to argue the sacred RAW in his favor.

Yeah, I can't say if he's doing the thing I describe--just that it looks a lot like similar situations I've seen before, and ANY reason for dodging the context which drove the querent to ask the question... tends to lead to the querent arguing with the answerers.
The Stack is designed around actionable solutions to actual problems, and the more we wander into subjects untethered to real-life situations the harder it is for the Stack to operate properly.

@doppelspooker Now that derek has changed his title, I withdraw all objection
My answer is deleted

@Lord_Gareth I'm trying to think if there has been a conspiracy.se proposal...
Though I guess that is just skeptics.se more or less

See here I was just making a joke.
You didn't have to worsen my life by confirming it was true.

@KorvinStarmast still needs a look at. "this thing sucks ass, tell me about it" is kind of a problem for a question premise. we've seen it done better.

@Lord_Gareth Well I think there has only been a paranormal.se proposed. So your life should remain intact.
* recently proposed, anyway.

@doppelspooker I mean, unfortunately that's kind of a factual series of events. The wiki in question has known issues of quality, formatting, and presentation which make it a haven for shoddy material that is not always or often differentiated from official material, good material, or checked, controlled, or edited in any way.
"Why does everyone hate this?" is a question with an actual answer
And unfortunately that answer is a long and academic version of, "Because it's bad."

11:51 PM
hey there @KorvinStarmast and @Lord_Gareth

Or, y'know, some variant on the following

@Shalvenay Buenos Noches, amigo

@KorvinStarmast how're things going?

@Shalvenay Vord

@Lord_Gareth what's up?

11:53 PM
@Shalvenay Writin' stuff for Starfinder, sneaking in some dumbass action movie references that make me giggle like unto the child I am in my heart.

@Lord_Gareth :P
I'm in a wait and see mode. have a party I want to run a campaign for in D&D 5e in the near future, but don't want to be pitching and catching them between systems and DMs too hard, never mind that their first D&D experience is going to be...awkward at best given that they're playing a one-armed fighter in D&D 3.5e...

@Lord_Gareth ok, thinking further and with your inputs, i'll remove the lock so that if it needs improvement (and it probably does) it can be done without waiting

@Lord_Gareth My understanding of "bolter" is when an F-18 makes an approach to landing on a carrier and the hook misses all 4 wires.

@doppelspooker If you're down with it I can try to edit the question

OK, I need to finish some back story on my half orc champion, and I have writer's block of a sort. Not sure what to edit out and what to keep. I have to write with "short attention span audience" in mind.
Off I go to wrassle with a riter's demons ...

@KorvinStarmast ah.
