@Ant I think what you did was right, but I was a bit confused at first. The "total" dipole moment is what I showed you in the figure: the vector sum of all bond dipole moments, which means you don't add them up by sqrt(x^2 + y^2 + z^2): You add up the components of the vector using vector addition. But since all your dipole moments looked the same, I realized what you had was already the total vector sums and what you called "total" was the magnitude of a vector sum.
