American-Born Confused Desi (ABCD) is a term used to refer to South Asian Americans born in the United States, in contrast to those who were born overseas and later settled in the USA. Neologism ABCD or American-Born Confused Desi has become a polarizing factor in the South Asian diaspora in the US, with first-generation immigrant parents and young South Asians of second or latter generations. Though the term was originally coined in reference to Indian-Americans, it has been adopted by the South Asian community at large. The term "desi" comes from the word "des" (homeland) in both Hin...

@jokerdino everybody's got to do the needful sometimes, sir.
@JourneymanGeek what do your stats on that webpage thing linked in the dooblidoo actually mean?

the "do the needful" was actually acquired from the british

@Sathya you'd better apply for that job, sounds like

9:00 AM

Oh you mean that thing

2 hours ago, by Aarthi
@Sathya not to put too fine a point on it, but: quit whining and fucking apply :|

Blah how do I reply on phonechat?
@nhinkle have irc and ssh setup on my raspberry pi. First they did not work and my system was unroutable. Then suddenly it all worked

Everyone's moving onto level 4 e_e

@HackToHell: I know, right? ;p

@JourneymanGeek If you do not get a prize in the current level, do you get into the lower level with increased probability of winning or is it just like the others

just like the others

Thats life ;p
to be honest, I stopped caring about the contest. I spent the last weekend hacking on my PI

12:44 PM
@HackToHell except me

@JourneymanGeek Don't forget to show Raspberry Pi some love, if possible ;)

@OliverSalzburg: took a look, but there's nothing I can answer yet

Crypto course has started anyone attending ?

1:32 PM
@HackToHell: lol. I know the feeling too well

I think i just saw hack's photo :P
scary

2:17 PM
deep thought for sleep-deprived night and busy morning: words containing the substring "pud" need to be moved into a separate language called "pudlish" and removed from English
also i really hate when a tiny little popup box appears all of the sudden and you're typing a sentence and the hotkey for dismissing the dialog is "o" and you don't even get a chance to read what it said
did it say, "Are you sure you want to change your password to <!%$56913451imasdf1$FAsv134f!#Rf125tgT!4691?"

2:31 PM
as a matter of fact it said "If you hit o, the program will kick your wife, and commit hedonistic acts with your dachund"

I don't have a wife or a dachsund
the program should crash due to NULL pointer dereference

@allquixotic hey how are you?

A: How to run an application from Windows XP in Windows 8?

avirkNo, you can't run the application installed on the XP in Windows 8 or application installed on Windows 8 in Windows XP. Both OSs have different path of registries for the installed programs which will not let them run the program from the other drive. There could be a chance but I never tried...

@JourneymanGeek are you there?

can you check my answer?
There are a lot of programs which don't need registry keys, or configuration data. You can run them without a problem. Some others just rebuild their configuration as needed. Finally, some store their configuration in their own folder. All these cases work for such situation. — Gnoupi 9 mins ago

ya, you're both right
some software just uses .ini files still
or uses a non standard config, unix ports are notorious for that
I would qualify the answer
"There's no reliable, universal way to do this since each OS has its own registry, and settings and locations may vary between the two OSes. If software is self contained, it may still work, but you cannot be certain without testing it.

2:50 PM
@JourneymanGeek hmmm can I edit it in my answer?

sure
more importantly, remember you can do this
never say never. just tell scary stories ;p

@JourneymanGeek :P

Is it so hard to find a budget wifi router with USB port? :-/

@Bibhas What's your budget?

@r.tanner.f As low as possible. Can't spend too much.

2:56 PM
@Bibhas: raspberry pi + wireless dongle ;p

@Bibhas round figure dude? We can't tell you about 1 cent :P

@JourneymanGeek Ah. yes. Alreadyy planning that. Getting my hands on a Pi soon. but I'd love a router with usb

@r.tanner.f ping :P

@Bibhas: the pi could be one, its one of the things i want to try ;p

@avirk Gimme the lowest possible thing you can find. I'll take it from there. :D

2:58 PM
@avirk sup?

@JourneymanGeek Will set up a media server with the pi. :D

@r.tanner.f I asked you yesterday can we get check by batch file that no activity by user on system?
