9 hours later…
10:47 AM
How can I do something?
Previous sentence triggers clippy easter egg.

2 hours later…
12:33 PM
I'm guessing a literal 'fat sack of cash' was involved

@bertieb and an apology and a restoration of account. But mostly money 😁

@JourneymanGeek I believe that "fat sack" is the SI unit for that amount of money ;-P
still scary tho
apparently it happened to Grey too?
of CGP fame

He's back
Tho I don't know what you mean 'what happened to him'
Oh right, his youtube got banned one time didn't it?

yeah, got locked out and then unfrozen after vociferous complaints

or hijacked...?

12:37 PM
AIUI

yeah, it sucks if you're small time and this happens
as it really seems you've got very little chance of doing anything about it :/

I dunno the details, I just saw it as a throwaway line in one Shamus Young's latest article
@djsmiley2kStaysInside that was kinda my thought in my case

It was a long while ago, and Grey wrote about it I think.

would be super trivial for someone to DOS me out of my account
not a nice thought
(no getting any bright ideas, now)
;-P

@bertieb that's imperial. It's kilo and megabucks 😁

12:42 PM
With a hint of irony, I started uploading to YT as I was concerned about losing videos I was self hosting
@JourneymanGeek Well, I'm from the UK. We're with metrication- every inch of the way!

1:14 PM
@bertieb So what about all those speed limit signs in mph?

1:42 PM
@DavidPostill Not sure if that was setup for a further pun, afraid I've got nothing!
Though AIUI they considered changing the signs over at some point?
but was deemed to be too costly or somesuch
and nowadays it would be in the [tens of] billions to do, probably
there's an article in the Grauniad which says the "UK Metric Association" estimates it would cost only ('only') £80m
which feels very lowball
albeit from 15 years ago
maybe it was the estimated cost for switching driving side to the right
which is better because something something Napoleon hated the British?
or because he was left handed
or another reason entirely

1 hour later…
3:10 PM
Apparently 35% of the world's countries drive on the left. That's a lot more than I thought!

You mean one third drives wrong :)

1 hour later…
4:30 PM
Right. I mean wrong. I mean yes?
