@Aibobot don't miss out the fact they let(are letting?) 250 people go

8:36 AM
@djsmiley2kStaysInside I am not
the timing ...

"we're not getting funding so we're letting people go"

yeah sounds like my place
We're letting people go
but we've got lots of work
so you'll all need to work harder

"we're doomed! It would be a shame if there was only one browser!"

but we can't afford the people we have

8:37 AM
"Imagine the anti trust problems!"
@djsmiley2kStaysInside then what can they afford?

9:30 AM
An unpaid intern and half a dev?

Indeed... :D

@djsmiley2kStaysInside Severance at 100% base pay to the end of the year and health insurance. A lot of companies aren't even doing this; they're just terminating people with nothing at all because they simply can't afford it. It's sad.
@Aibobot I really hope so. Mozilla selling a VPN service helps, but this doesn't change the fact that they're financially running on fumes.
Firefox is becoming a niche browser.
> However, several sources have confirmed that the organization is sound financially, and the layoffs were part of a restructuring of its core business, with Mozilla moving away from its current role of internet standards steward and experimental approach to its product catalog to more commercially-viable offerings that generate revenues on their own.
Hmm. So they're still on solid footing for the time being and this is mostly a move for long-term financial stability.
Let's hope it stays this way. I use Firefox because 1) it's the last major browser that uses something other than Blink as its core rendering engine and 2) it lets me run my own Sync server.

@bwDraco I am not going to believe that unless they cut executive salaries first
