a relative got a BSOD and a restart or shutdown.. I looked at their event viewer and theye got some errors including one like this "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID " I found this URL related to solving that error appuals.com/…
but it's 26 steps.. with no real explanation about what any of it does. A bit tricky to follow 26 steps blindly 'cos one could make an error. I'm wondering if there's an easier way to deal with that error?

Ignore it unless it happens again?
Windows busts a valve at random stuff all the time. I plugged my USB headset in after launching a game the other night and my PC hard locked for whatever reason.
Just restart and move on.

he gets a restart or a shutdown every day
and that error is recurrent and around the same kind of time
(based on what he told me re frequency and time of shutdown/restart)

this looks like a much easier solution to try social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/…
far less likely to go wrong!

Those have nothing to do with a bugcheck.
Go grab windbg and analyse the bugcheck properly.

Quick question: will a machine originally designed for a Katmai Slot 1 CPU also be compatible with a Coppermine Slot 1?
Is it a categorical yes or no, or is it that it depends?
Well, I found what I needed by searching the Retrocomputing site

I have a HP laptop I lost the charger for. Luckily I have another unused HP Laptop with charger.
How do I tell if I'm safe to use the charger with the other laptop?
Is it just with wattage/voltage that matter?
