but she was removed quite publicly and dramatically outside the usual processes, and legal got involved and... there's a certain lack of trust

frankly at this point if someone sorts it out, they probably have insane diplomacy skills that are wasted on us

@JourneymanGeek I was more meaning to start something anew on Codidact... I'm not betting on the life or death of SO more hedging my bet on a new initiative. Especially with Monica as Codidact new face.

@JourneymanGeek tbh, if I was kicked out that way, anyone would have to walk on their knees for a year and apologized publicly with the front page of the NYT to get me back, never spit on anyone's pride.

admittedly the last few months have been a rollercoaster

@AndyK there's a general desire to make things better

they've openly changed their views on stuff (so all the things that shog talked about did not actually come to pass)

but specifics are tricky

How to open that powershell? how to enter this command: Get-EventLog -Logname System | Where-object {$_.EventID -eq 225}?

Do I need to specify windows files directory in that command?

@MarcKelvin Powershell is just another application on your computer.

You can launch it from Run with powershell, you can launch it from the Start Menu by searching for powershell, you can launch it by pressing windows key + x and selecting Powershell from the context menu.

Then just copy and paste that command you want into the powershell window and hit enter.

Particularly in the manner in which they did it

For me it was the realisation that the social contract had changed

Before it really seemed like "Let's build this repository of QA", which is an almost Wikipedian aspiration

and if SEI (or anyone else) profits off that repository of knowledge, that's grand

Whereas now it's... "we'll tolerate the existence of [certain aspects of] QA as long as we're not losing money"

feels like the honeymoon is over

kinda like it did with Google, to draw an analogy

who went from "We're awesome at search, and we can leverage that to create these excellent tools for our users" to, well, the Google Graveyard

now perhaps the fault lies with me for believing/expecting too much in the initial social contract

and as Geek says, things may yet change for the better

on the other hand, it might be a case of "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"

but I am reticent to hitch my wagon to SEI

it just doesn't feel right anymore

and that there will be a review after a removal is now explicit in the removal process

Q: How to get a second PSU to power only hard drives if the CPU and motherboard connectors are not used?

I would like to add more disks than my main PSU can handle, so I plugged them on another PSU (Corsair VS450) but it does not power them as CPU and motherboard connectors are not used. How can I force the second PSU to provide power to my hard drives?

Someone's been spying on my frankenserver!
