Hey, I'm adding a single stick of RAM to my motherboard, with plans to add more in a couple days.
I don't know which ram slots is best to use though. I have the MOBO specification sheet and installation guide, but I can't tell from it.
The motherboard is 'EP2C612D16C-4L', but I'm more interested in how to figure out which slots to use rather than someone telling me

I have a computer that is 9 years old but works great and is very fast. I'm looking to get it a second/new monitor but may need to upgrade the graphics card too. Out of curiosity what are people's views on upgrade vs replacing? When do you decide just to get a new computer?
When building a new computer I would emphasize the motherboard, CPU, case (if you care about it) and power supply. The rest is relatively easy to upgrade.

old PCs are good enough, and you can still get compatible parts for old boxen, even DDR3

My father's last PC was in service for almost 11 years before it was replaced.
An HP system with AMD Ryzen 3 2200G replaced an ancient Dell with AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+. Yes, K8.
If the system is nine years old, you probably have a Sandy Bridge processor (second-generation Intel Core). These processors have aged remarkably well, especially the i7s, but there is a growing trend towards high core counts for both gaming and productivity.
