does 4k30 in windows, X dosen't start in an installed copy of 19.10 (but will run on livecd)
and not really inclined to downgrade for that yet
can kinda get it running with nomodeset

Sometimes people ask rather basic questions about something to do with computers, such as: How do I start command line in Windows? How do I find out my IP address? How to I change which program opens files with this extension?
Maybe I did not search well enough, but I only found a post about the third one: Associate a File Type with a Specific Program.
Are questions like this too basic for Super User?
I am asking mainly because sometimes the easiest thing to do would be to answer with a link to some place which has nice answer for the question at hand. And in case of SU I would expect that the links are unlikely to die in the future.

morning

By "basic" questions I meant stuff such that any moderately experienced user definitely doesn't have problem with that - but there are people who have problems with almost anything they have to do on a computer. (I think the examples I mentioned above qualify - in any case, I have been asked many times some things which seemed rather trivial.)

eh, there's such a thing as too simple I guess
I actually think the second question exists
after a fashion

Q: How to find my computer's IP Address?

jeffI'm a total noob about TCP/IP, now reading some document (Sams Teach Yourself TCP/IP in 24 hours). However, I still don't get some concepts. First of all, when I type "what's my ip address" in Google, it shows an address starting with 88.225 something, cool, but when I make this search from anot...

So it seems that I'm not that good in searching. (Or I should have spent more time trying.)
Although looking at the answers, this is not something that I would be able to give to the type of person I described above.
But most likely Super User is not aimed at this type of users.

At some point, the simplest thing is to sit down and walk them through it :D

Well, yes - that's true. But if I have to do that repeatedly and with many people, it might be useful to have some link at hand.
Of course, I could write down detailed steps myself (and I sometimes do), but if somebody has already done that, I would save some time.
So basically I was asking whether it is likely that I find some posts with detailed instructions for some basic tasks here on SU.
It seems not to be the case - but certainly I could find such things elsewhere. (I was specifically asking about SU because I would expect links to this site to be more stable and also in this way I would promote Stack Exchange network a bit.)

If you're going to write the documentation
take the time to write the question and answer too

Q: If a picture of a screen is a Screenshot what is a video of a screen?

Chagai FriedlanderI'm looking for a catchy and nice-sounding word. "Screenrecording" is my favourite but I am still not really satisfied. Options I found unsatisfying: Videoshot, Screenshots,Screenpint, Screenbottle, Screencap, Screenmotionpicture, Screencast, Screenselfie, Screengif.

Not accidentallied the soundbar, but I did not notice its razor branding
Nor that it shipped with an optical cable. Now I have two.

AND THAT WAS EVEN WEIRDER.

has anyone seen that google is now officially recommending that you inline your CSS?

3:57 PM
@Burgi But if you need to apply the same CSS to more than one element, won't that lead to unnecessary bulk?

4:47 PM
@Burgi where is this mentioned? :o

the help on pagespeed insight

@bwDraco Is there a single advantage that this chip has?

22nm. That's it.
Because 22nm is not subject to the Intel processor shortage.

@bwDraco What does that mean? That it'll be cheap and readily available?

Haswell was the last 22nm generation.
It's more for OEMs than anything else.

I might not need it now, but as an enthusiast, I might suddenly find myself needing 12+ cores or 64+ GB of memory for a particular workload

8:41 PM
Never found myself actually needing more than 32 GB of memory, but 12+ cores? Hell yeah.

I like this game but my god it's so much.... more difficult to get alone with than the other tales games :S

If anyone here uses Powershell, I've got a simple question. I got a C# Dictionary type using a JSON parser command, and I got .Keys so I could go through the keys. Now I could do foreach just fine, but I'm curious about how it prints.
echo myObj.Keys ---> test1 test2
echo myObj.Keys[0] ---> test1 test2

You would think Keys[0] would be only test1, but apparently not. Therein lies my question. Can't seem to figure out how to Google it.

11:54 PM
Keys might just be a string, and not an array of values.
You could try something like $KeyArray = (myObj.Keys).split(" ")
