I'm picking up a pair (maybe a trio depending on how my experiments go) of 802.11 ax cards

got brackets for my main system/desktop but the client side gear is MUCH cheaper than the APs for now, so I figure I can test getting it working on ubuntu on the test box, then try retrofitting my DIY router with one. Its mini PCIe only so I'd need an adaptor (since the AX200 is M.2 only)

@bertieb oh I see, I didn't interpret malloc() as your suggestion. It looked like it was somehow related to the nickname/notification highlight. ... I don't think I have the means to write and compile a C program on Windows. I do have python though, so your suggestions leads me to stackoverflow.com/questions/38009008/…, which is straightforward. When setting up SSH pubkeys, do you create a new id_rsa per machine you connect from?

@MichaelFrank that'd be the 'advised' way of doing it

However, if you keep your private key secure, there's no reason why you can't copy it to other machines.

Problem is, if you shared the key to all your systems, and it gets comprimised, all your systems now need a new key

and you revoking that keys access is 'all or nothing'

What I do, is normally generate extra keys, for hosts I don't control

i.e. I have a separate private key for my hosted machines that i don't physically own

@MichaelFrank @djsmiley2k-CoW Keeping it secure is more than just keeping a passphrase on it. According to a Security.SE question, the server itself doesn't see whether a passphrase was used or not with your key

Better is using a Certificate Authority, but that is much more complex

Wow... Just got an obvious virus (.doc) from an "invoice" from the Canadian Revenue Agency (with a domain in the .ro TLD). Uploaded to Virus Total, and only 14 detected as a virus! And my real-time scanner did not pick it up until I told it to manually scan!

But still, 14 out of 58 detect it?

Norton Security did not detect it at first.

A later update did detect the threat and remove it automatically.

I'd prefer my antivirus not attempt to extract random zip files that turn up in my inbox...
