On a meta level, I'm getting seriously concerned about the divide in power between haves and have-nots.

Those who are in a position of wealth and power can amplify their power by exploiting those who are not, who will languish in poverty indefinitely with little ability to move up.

And this is why we seriously need more personal finance education. Big businesses know how to make every dollar count. More often than not, ordinary workers don't. And that's unfair and wrong.

regarding this hot question superuser.com/questions/1494939/… is it safe to assume that as a rule USB chargers are interchangeable, and laptop chargers are not?

afaik USB protocol allows for some data exchange about how much power can be provided vs how much the device wants to have, and the device can choose if it wants to charge at all

I think I've seen some power-hungry tablets say "this is not enough, I will not even charge"

but laptops with that connector don't have any data contacts to talk to the charger

@bwDraco Who is more careful about their dollars? Someone that has to decide between being able to afford food or rent this week, or a business that has millions of dollars? You can't compare the two, and trying to do so is absurd.

Yes, personal finance education is definitely too far down the priority list.

but comparing individuals to big business is not the right way to point it out.

In other news, there is nothing more frustrating on Windows 10 than trying to type to search in the Start Menu and the whole thing just sitting there blank.
