ooooops

Half millisecond of steep discount, you say

8 hours later…

@JourneymanGeek can you still get the telltale game?

Not on Steam at least.

@Burgi uhm
I own it
I think it got taken off everywhere cause the company closed

thats what i thought
me and the GF were looking forward to wolf amongst us 2

8:59 AM
I heard someone was trying to buy up all the licences and bring the games back, but can't remeber who

9:16 AM
i feel for telltale, their model was interesting but they hadn't improved their engine or gameplay mechanics for AGES
I think the loss of the Netflix contract was the killer

hopeful...

9:48 AM
I dunno
Wolf Among us was awesome
The licenced stuff was all very meh, I found.

wasn't that licenced too?
Was from... a comic I think, fables?

10:14 AM
@Burgi not entirely
IIRC, this was a good post-mortem that I watched some time ago (it's 17 min)

10:34 AM
do i need the visuals or can i just listen?

11:08 AM
ok visuals weren't needed, good analysis

2 hours later…
1:35 PM
@JourneymanGeek oh ok, well it was very good.

2:08 PM
TWD was extremely good

@Burgi well one thing with telltale is - they basically had one niche and did a good job with storytelling

exactrly

2:31 PM
Then they sacked all the writers...

Q: Is it safe to unplug a blinking USB drive after 'safely' ejecting it?

LawrenceThere is a lot of information about how to safely unplug USB hard drives. However, the articles tend to stop at the part where the operating system says it is safe to unplug, or where you're sure nothing is writing to the drive, etc. Relevant set up: Windows 10 PC or Windows 10 notebook Extern...

I WAS WONDERING ABOUT THIS JUST YESTERDAY

Found a random tweet: twitter.com/chscott_msft/status/1173613987273084929. Is this a new "MS love Linux" strategy?

3:35 PM
@Biswapriyo There's literally nothing new about this
@Bob You up for a programming question?
Or anyone else here?

3:54 PM
@rahuldottech If it's in C/C++ world I'm on!

Cool!
Here's the question:
You have an array. An example is 1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 2, 3, 7, 8, 8, 7
You need to print all the elements which don't have a duplicate
You can only use a single loop, and can't make any additional arrays.
That's it.

4:13 PM
sort array then loop through and test the previous entry against the current entry then echo out if it doesn't match
or you unroll the loop and step through each iteration

@Burgi Sorting would involve more than one loop, no?

in bash? sort[1,1,.....7]|uniq
for x in 1..8, print x, done
oh so many ways
surely C has something where you can store the pointer to the array as the arrays value
therefore array[1] would end up as 1, etc
so loop through to create the pointers, then echo the values

ooh, bash has built-in sort? neat!
This is specifically a C++ question tho. Give it a shot?

4:42 PM
@rahuldottech not really built in
It's part of coreutils

A: What's the quickest way to count the number of each character in a file?

Journeyman Geekgrep -o foo.text -e A -e T -e C -e G -e N -e -|sort|uniq -c Will do the trick as a one liner. A little explanation is needed though. grep -o foo.text -e A -e T -e C -e G -e N -e - greps the file foo.text for letters a and g and the character - for each character you want to search for. It also ...

@JourneymanGeek what the holy moly

5:07 PM
I don't know C

waffles

5:44 PM

Bob
5:55 PM
@rahuldottech You're giving me algo course flashbacks. Though I think the rule was better defined there: it must be done in O(n) time.
"single loop" is the wrong restriction iirc
Also, wasn't there supposed to be a precondition on the array elements? I remember something about abusing indices that would only work if no value is greater than the number of elements in the array.

1 hour later…
7:07 PM
@Bob nah, nothing like that applies here. The question is pretty much just what I said.

1 hour later…
8:11 PM
I wanna see what logic you come up with. I wrote one up, but dunno if it's any good.
yay. so sound is dead and now wifi is dead this is great

8:27 PM
on the laptrop both the keyboard and mouse died earlier
was lol.
Nooooooooooo
warner bro took down all my videos on archive.org

3 hours later…
11:10 PM
