Welp. On my way to Bhutan again. I'll probably have to spend my 18th birthday there. With no friends and no family, besides mom.

I wonder - do I need additional physical memory (I have 8 Gb) under this load? Is there a lot of memory paged on HDD?
There are so many parameters, it's hard to understand right away

I have a 660-page MS Word document, and each time I'm working on it, the laptop hums incessantly.
The document is filled with tables. Clinical trial data.
I wonder why Word struggles so hard with it even when I'm just reading it, or keeping it open.
A poem by me )))

when you do git add -A , does it check against the .gitignore that has been committed, or the .gitignore in the working directory?

4:05 PM
a git expert told me it was the latter, but if the latter, then I can't explain the behaviour I am seeing.
Ah I got it. .gitignore only works on untracked files and if a file is tracked and you want .gitignore to ignore it, you have to untrack it first, with git rm --cached a.a

4:18 PM
TIL, and tomorrow I'll forget :D

Right now it's a bicycle wheel, so we've had to move to lighter vehicles, but the reduced overhead is worth it. There was one week when a wheel of cheese got dangerously close to the first page, though.

I sometimes don't understand people. I literally explained the entire Windows 10 feature update process in this answer and yet they question that 1903 isn't called the May 2019 Update. I can't tell if my answer was not clear it was due to the author not performing any research before asking the question
