Q: How to disable all browser extensions while in private mode?

PiotrekI want something similar to Chrome Incognito Tab where all addons and extensions are disabled by default. Unfortunately, entering private mode in Firefox doesn't do that and extensions still have access to web page content. I want to avoid it while browsing through my bank account.

@DavidPostill Did this ever change?
Because switching to FF was hard enough, and now this is really just annoying the hell out of me

@rahuldottech The docs has a couple starter scripts
but I feel like you won't need them ;)

8:45 AM
:D

Also, it doesn't tell you anywhere, but there's a cap on the number of servers you can buy.

9:41 AM
@MichaelFrank ah, okay. I only just initially checked it out for a bit yesterday. I'll get more into it when I get time later today or tomorrow
This is such an absurd headline

get vaccinated ffs

9:54 AM
Get your shots

10:34 AM
/me sighs
I remember as a teen I saw this rise of 'Celebration of idioicy'
Litterally watching society go from celebrating inteligence, to celebrating the lack of.
Gmmmm if something has GPS, it should know the time, right?
I.e. i shouldn't need to set it?
Other than maybe being in the wrong timezone if i'm near a border or such

Good morning. Is it possible to run a graphical variation of Linux on a device that connects via USB, so I can simply plug it into my TV? I'm hoping the device it runs on is really very small as I don't have room to have a computer there (I know raspberry PI is small but not powerful enough to push the display onto the TV according to my research)

10:58 AM
video over usb?
it's possible sure. But it very much depends on the 'device' and your TV.
Raspberry pi's don't output via usb though, they output via hdmi
I've heard RasPi 3B+ can run a gui quite nicely?
Hell, I used to run a load of web display dashboard screens on Raspi 2A's

Ah...
Yes. I was thinking about plugging in a USB that runs an OS... We have a TV in a room, and the goal is when my daughters do home work, they can simply run a browser on the TV and research
I appreciate a laptop would suffice, but the TV is always there etc

11:27 AM
I'd suspect a raspi would do that perfectly.
I haven't actually done it myself however.
There's plenty of 'other' raspi simular things which do this too
hardware recs might be the best place to ask
Does the TV have a spare HDMI in?

12:17 PM
@MyDaftQuestions raspberry pi or the old Intel compute sticks come to mind

1:07 PM
A compute stick? Let me Google it :)

1:19 PM
I think theyre discontinued tho?
A laptop duct taped to the back of the TV works too
'some' tablets can do hdmi out, so you could connect one of those, with bluetooth keyboard and mouse too

Oh yeah. The newer version of the one Bob and I have does

1:51 PM
why not get a chromecast and let them cast from the phone/tablet to the TV?
iirc the chromecast is only about £30

That works too.

2:54 PM
@djsmiley2k correct, but if it is an older device it might freak out because the GPS epoch happened last week

3:14 PM
@Burgi well it's a cheap chinese knockorf

how old is the device?

3:30 PM
about 3 days ;D
I need to grab the manual and decide if i'm going to install the app
it's one of these heath tracky band things.
weird chinese one the misses saw on amazon for 6 quid.
Seems alright, but says you need an app to connect to it (maybe you do, maybe you don't??)
Ah found it on google

Anyone here has any suggestions for emulating a keyboard for password input?

Q: A "keyboard emulator" to input passwords from my phone into a computer

That Brazilian GuyI have a collection of many username / password combinations which I have to type frequently. If it's on my own computer, I will open my password app and paste it. But if it's on a computer I don't own and can't install any software, I need to have a safe, airtight way of transferring this infor...

Ad fraud. Unbelievable.
It's simply remarkable how far bad actors will go to make money while draining funds from advertisers who are paying for ads that end users will never see because of this fraud.

@ThatBrazilianGuy I have the perfect thing for you
Available for ~$1 on AliExpress
You can hardcode with passwords, or add a Bluetooth module and work with your phone
The latter would be a bit complicated, but doable

@rahuldottech "a bit complicated". Just learn a totally new software and hardware stack. Easy peasy ;-)

Idk if there's an easier solution, but this would definitely work
@ThatBrazilianGuy I can write you the Arduino script, and you'd just have to solder on two buttons

@rahuldottech add that as answer then. Not great for me, but others might benefit from it.
@rahuldottech Would you help me pick the Bluetooth module and write the Bluetooth code?
Because I'd be in the dark here

Or if you want, I can just make it and ship it to you
@ThatBrazilianGuy yeah, totally.
I'll do some research and let you know in a couple days?

6:35 PM
@rahuldottech Yay Rahul is a jolly good fellow :D
@rahuldottech There is a store in my neighborhood that sells Arduino modules, I'll try to get their stock listing (they got no website).
In totally unrelated news, a co-worker is arguing loudly over the phone with his wife and I left and sat on the parking lot and ants have crawled my legs =/

@ThatBrazilianGuy :)
@ThatBrazilianGuy cool cool
@ThatBrazilianGuy also have an alternate non-DIY solution
Buy the elite. Arrange the pins according to the password you want, insert into PC

7:07 PM
I have a few hundred pwds on my pwd app and I don't want to hardcode them.
In fact I want to hardcode none as it defeats security
I think I remember seeing some time ago something that would require a rooted Android and an usb cable

hmmmm is heavy falcon launching
or is this youtube channel lying

@ThatBrazilianGuy themooltipass.com

@JourneymanGeek Interesting, but... 1) I have a few hundred passwords, and it seems I'd have to keep rotating that dial for it to show up, that could take a while. But maybe I could store only my most used passwords. However.... 2) USD 80. Plus shipping. Plus taxes over base price and shipping. +_+'
However, you can add that as an answer on hwrecs to help others that aren't as Brazilian as I am.

Ya. Will do
It's still a useful starting point
A rpi 0 might do all those things but you still need a physical ui of some sort
