Triple-slot, integral closed-loop liquid cooling. The card, waterblock, pump, radiator, and fans are all packed into a triple-slot card. There is no separate radiator; the entire cooling system is self-contained.

Pretty soon that's going to be: "Here's my gaming rig, and right beside it is my graphics card..."

Basically a cherry-picked RTX 2080 Ti Strix card (same PCB, top 5% bin) with a self-contained liquid cooler.
That does give it a tiny bit more cooling capacity but the whole concept of a self-contained liquid cooler is pretty odd. It does make the card lighter-weight (replacing the heavy heatsink with a smaller radiator) and increases the cooling capacity a tiny bit, but it's not like a separately-mounted radiator/fan assembly.
Where it clearly wins is in performance, beating out every other RTX 2080 Ti card by a significant (~10%) margin.
10% may not seem like much but that's about halfway between GPU tiers...

@bwDraco but.......... if it's already frmo the top 5% bin
how many of those, which aren't using this intergrated cooling, can do the same?

Lmao WinRAR

@rahuldottech well put

@MichaelFrank it looks fancy, but I suspect that those air intakes are a lot less effective than one would initially suspect

@tereško i've seen jet intakes smaller than those! ;)

also, I dread to know, what the noise level is for those things

@tereško actually, the bigger the fans, the slower they can run

and those things are tiny :D

11:38 AM
roar
Yeah, not too sure there's a significant advantage over a conventional air cooler (aside from weight)

@JourneymanGeek hell, it's even worse: they have two tiny fans and two more tinier fans
I suspect that at full load it sounds like a quadcopter (and a tiny one)

but looking cool drops your system temp by 10 degrees
thats science!

aha, and red makes it go faster

oh ewwww

yup

11:41 AM
I took a look at the thermal test results and while there does seem to be an advantage (considering that it does use a bit morw power), it's tiny.

all it needs is a spoiler on the back

I actually went for a nearly boring case this time.
I do have a side window and unavoidable RGB lighting

I got a spoiler for you ... Jon Snow is .... mummuurmurmrmurmr

you know what? i want GOT to end like holy grail :P

Side windows are good. It means you can see when there's enough dust to warrant cleaning out the system.

11:43 AM
@JourneymanGeek Fractal?

naw, cooler master

boooo
but, yeah, I recall cooletrmaster too had good ascetic cases

Its a fairly practical case. Not as nice as my last one (the old cosair 600t, which will likely find itself being used as a home server)

but it's a getting a bit old (the entire machine is 4 years old now) ... I will start looking to upgrade after I buy the apartment

I was looking at fractal.
but this felt a better fit for this build

11:55 AM
Astaroth has the Corsair 760T.
I wanted a cleaner design that still allowed me to showcase what's inside. The hinged chassis doors are a fantastic feature, too.
If only all the front panel USB ports were USB 3.x...

12:51 PM
The RGB bug did bite me some time after the build was completed.
Ended up adding some Phanteks RGB LED strips. Most better boards these days have RGB light headers and mine had two available.
I am so tempted to build a dedicated workstation. I might get into videography and video editing at some point...
I should probably get a copy of DaVinci Resolve first...
(the basic version is free, and the Studio version isn't expensive as far as video editing software goes)
On the fence, though, and videography equipment is even more expensive than stills photography gear.
I'd rather not go half-in on this.

2:02 PM
google is now recommending i visit restaurants in NYC...
is there a faster way to unpin all the crap in the win10 startmenu?

@Burgi Install Lin-<gunshot, sound of body hitting floor>

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

I love my quiet case
No more does it sound as though I have a medium-sized airport in my room

@Burgi haha, slightly weird tho, coming from someone who isn't an adult himself

4:19 PM
@XKCD it would be nice if onscreen keyboards all used QWERTY to begin with
my parents cable box uses the ABC layout
which is really frustrating

And the lag on those things
thinks
An function could take a text string and a text representation of the keyboard layout and return the required ← ↑ → ↓ keystrokes... hmmm
there's probably already a PP&CG challenge for that

4:47 PM
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA OH GODDDDDDDDD
Brazilian eBanking is a joke
Not only the require you install a literal goddamn rootkit as a "safety measure"
(it legit installs a new network adapter and route all your traffic to it)
"Well, at least the have 2FA"
But... You can login without the 2FA. You need the rootkit, tho.
You can see your balance but can't make transfers etc without the 2FA
But... You know what else can you do without the 2FA? Disable the 2FA.
I have this on a VM. The 2FA is a phone app. I don't have it installed.
I tried a BRL 1 test transfer. "Please enter the 2FA code". Damnit!
"If you have a new phone, just install the app and it'll replace the old 2FA".
But... To use the app all it asks is your bank number and password, the same thing the website asks.
So in order to use the 2FA all you need is any phone and the same info you used to login
"Meh, don't wanna install the app".
"Huh, what's this?"
ヽ(ಠ_ಠ)ノ
It's all a joke! Security theater! Smoke and mirrors! Inconvenience as a trade-off for... more inconvenience!

5:07 PM
@ThatBrazilianGuy I can't believe I'm saying this, but Indian eBanking isn't bad.
The most ridiculous thing they do is disable right-click and pasting
But password managers still work, so it's nothing compared to making you install a rootkit? wtf? What if you're on chromeOS or linux?

5:46 PM
@ThatBrazilianGuy The law most likely requires the security software.
As in, a bank cannot choose not to require the software.

@bwDraco Then the law is the problem

6:13 PM
Even if such a regulation doesn't exist... not using something like G-Buster puts a bank at a unique risk of legal liability because one could argue that the bank is failing to provide sufficient security.

Notre-Dame is on fire :?.
You're thinking like an american again
brazilians likely c an't sue their bank, for loosing their money

7:14 PM
Seems like a bad 'un

7:34 PM
@djsmiley2k Oh dear. 800 years old. A beautiful building reduced to ruins (one end of it anyway).

yah :@/

I wrote an article: rahul.tech/twitter-dark-mode
Feedback?

8:07 PM
@DavidPostill Ow :/
I just heard about it.

Oh my god. All of the artwork from inside Notre Dame was saved! https://twitter.com/KoliaDelesalle/status/1117865987670364160

9:09 PM
Count the number of black dots!

9:31 PM
12...?

@CanadianLuke Can you see all of them at the same time?

... Yea? It's not a GIF
Is there a trick I'm missing?

9:44 PM
I think the most I can see at the same time is 7 or 8, but obviously the trick is that dots around the peripheral seem to disappear when your eyes are not moving.

@CanadianLuke It's an optical illusion
You can't focus on multiple at the same time
So, this thing I made months ago for like no reason? Works perfectly in Chrome. But makes Firefox hang/crash badly. And I have no idea why. [Warning: flashing images]

10:21 PM
PSA - don't store your chips in that black ESD foam. as it breaks down, it corrodes the pins. these chips are now scrap.
Dunno if anyone here works with ICs, but...

That gold one in the corner looks fine.

10:32 PM
@rahuldottech Thank heaven.
They did a great job containing the fire.
But most of the roof got destroyed...

I think most of anything that wasn't stone block on top of stone block probably got destroyed.
