@Federico Your memory might be malfunctioning. Try unplugging the computer and re-seating the RAM. If that doesn't work, use different slots if you have any available.
 
Wouldn't the system at least POST even if the RAM was faulty?

thank you, and everyone else too.
I gave up today, I don't have extra RAM banks to test if both I have are faulty, or a second power unit, so I brought it to a repair shop. I know it's expensive, but I have only so much time to spend on stuff like this
 
Unplugging all the RAM should produce 3 short beeps. Many times, a machine can still POST if the RAM is faulty, as long as the first section it scans is OK (you notice how modern machines don't do a full RAM test anymore on startup?)
