@JourneymanGeek been well over two decades since i've had a battery issue but when I have seen them, the BIOS settings got reset when the battery was removed, which makes sense.. back in the day we we didn't even have USB or USB was in its early years.. and so it was expected that you either had the mechanical storage that kept the data... (And the CMOS settings weren't there), or you had RAM where like today, it wipes when the computer turns off. So it makes sense that given that the CMOS
settings aren't on the hard drive, then the settings get wiped when the battery is removed.
the non mechanical storage that stored the BIOS software would still have the BIOS but that that has always been possible with firmware.. it wouldn't get wiped when the power went.
I think the clock slowing down is an early warning sign.. But if changing the battery one would see the settings go back to default settings
which was more noticable when there was a noticable enough setting in the setup that you'd set to differ from the default.

@JourneymanGeek - try settings BITS to automatic

@Ramhound trying the printer first :D
its dumb it won't tell me what

If it’s the printer it’s only a few days old.
You were probably “compatible” when the upgrade downloaded and due to the inherent nature of the process were then dynamically blocked to prevent a bad printing experience

ah see
the windows 11 installer says I'm compatible

but the error code doesn’t match. In fact it matches an error code that is linked to NOT meeting the requirements (erroneously) but on a significantly earlier build from December.

If it made sense, I wouldn't be confused :D

Microsoft health page I linked to has more information and the XML file also

Printer's all removed
no luck

Well shoot. Google failed me. I searched for one error code and ended up with another
