/home/michael/Documents/Images/2017/01/14/image_1012.jpg/f151599488.jpg hmm... It seems my Exiftool command didn't quite work the way I planned.

12:49 AM
anyone get a hacktoberfest t-shirt yet?

I did not.
Although, I did not participate... so there's probably a reason I didn't...

1:12 AM
Huh just got a firmware update on my Galaxy S5, kernel dated August 2018, Android security patch level August 2017. Odd and unexpected...

Stock?

Yeah.
Must have been something bad for them to release an update over a year after EOL, yet only the kernel was updated. It's still on Android 6.01 mind, and I don't know if Google are still providing security updates for Android 6.
Samsung aren't the best for providing long term support for their older devices in any case, not even the flagships, which is why this came as a surprise. Especially given the S6 is already EOL'd and hasn't had a similar update.
##s/S6 is already/newer S6 remains/

There we go
(Mind you when I say "just" I mean it was released sometime this month; it's been pending for a while but you all know what I'm like for deferring updates...)

sammobile.com/premium Huh apparently you can't download old firmwares anymore without a premium subscription. Also a maximum download limit of two per day for free members :-o

Woo!

morning guys...
my laptop has lost about 5% of it's charge overnight while turned off.
Is that a normal figure for a new laptop?

Was it off, or just hibernating?
Could also be Fast Startup keeping something alive to ensure a speedy boot.

2:10 AM
Evening all

2:24 AM
@MichaelFrank It was turned off. Debian 9, no Windows.

1 hour later…

You know you're an electronics nerd when it takes 20 minutes to brush your teeth after coming back from holiday because your electric toothbrush is dead from having turned itself on on the plane, and you then have to spend 15 minutes fixing the battery connector on your backup toothbrush because that's also electronic.

4:21 AM
holy shit, I did that photo 4.5 years ago

"ORIGINAL BANKSY SHREDDED STENCIL - ONLY OF ITS KIND - 10 MILLION"

@Burgi there's a video explaining it on his Instagram

i'll hunt it down later

ty

@Burgi Sooooooo the video he posted on instagram of him installing the shredder was fake, however there really was a shredder, in a painting frame which really shredded something.
The idea the painting was brought in 2002 and the shredder was in situ then, is likely fake

3:56 PM
sometimes i struggle with art...
i'm going to start tidying up...

I'm a art student, and I sometimes struggle with it.

VERY slowly....

@Burgi in the hope yuor gf might do some?

That's nothing. A few years ago one or two dudes who were not Banksy set up a street stand with paintings labeled "Not Banksy". They sold all of them for a HUGE price.

no to waste time before hometime

> Not-Banksy Art Now Selling for Banksy Level Prices (Video)
By Drew Grant • 10/21/13 5:31pm

Over the weekend, artists Dave Cicirelli, George Gross Lance Pilgrim held a sidewalk sale for forty canvases that resembled the work of British street artist Banksy. Each piece came with a certificate of “Inauthenticity” so you can tell your friends that you definitely did not accidentally purchase some ten thousand dollar piece of street art over the weekend. Perfect for people who hate Banksy. (Unless selling fake Banksys turns out to be part of a Banksy instillation? AH!)

Can someone explain how this works to me? civil.co/about
(Someone who understands what the blockchain is, that is)

2 hours later…
8:42 PM
@rahuldottech lol
so remember how voting is clearly broken in america (amongst other places?)
> What sets Civil apart from anything else out there today is that no single entity will be in charge on Civil. All activity is driven by community consensus, or, a popular vote. Votes are, in turn, informed by a core set of journalistic ethics to which all participants in the network agree to adhere.
Surrrrreeeeeeeeeeee in a world where your job remains by lying, cheating and other bad stuff to keep those stories coming, a trust based system will work.
you buy 'tokens' (bitcoin) and use them to 'vote' (spend) on something.
This appently means something

Coffee Lake-R is here: 8-core mainstream processors from Intel, the fastest gaming processors ever made! anandtech.com/show/13400/…, tomshardware.com/reviews/…, techspot.com/review/1730-intel-core-i9-9900k-core-i7-9700k
How competition works wonders...
For value-oriented users, AMD is still a good choice, but Intel is getting serious about competing again and it shows.
A 9th Gen Core i7 is now 8C/8T with no Hyper-Threading.
However, i7 parts are not getting a full 2 MB of L3$ per core, which will hurt IPC a bit.
Not sure why, but Intel likes disabling cache on lower parts. I think that's just a bad idea. AMD doesn't disable L3$ on Ryzen processors unless entire CCXes are disabled.
IMO Intel is still doing some unnecessary product differentiation.

Does anyone want 8 GB (2x4 GB) of G.SKILL DDR3-1333 SO-DIMMs?
To be clear, these are not DDR3L (low-voltage) modules. They're standard 1.5V modules.
