@allquixotic lots of people seem to have missed that memo. I see too many "why are X" questions closed as not an actual problem the user's facing...
@OliverSalzburg probably because something already launched an explorer process somewhere... any attempt to launch explorer after the first one will open a window instead
@JourneymanGeek now it's a toss-up between qbittorrent and deluge, IIRC
@DragonLord they just say that as a CYA
be glad they make service manuals so well-written and easily accessible
more than I can say for the vast majority of laptop manufacturers
Does anyone know what the inner and outer dimensions of the DC connector on the HP power adapter for the HP 15-d053cl TouchSmart Notebook PC is? Also, the name of the connector type would help.
The adapter’s model numbers are 709985-004, 710412-001, and AD9043-022G2. I need to find a connector t...
I have an HP 15-d053cl laptop with a 14.8V, 2620mAh, 4-cell battery (although HP's website says it's 2800mAh) and I'm looking for something to add to my battery life. I've found my same battery and an external power pack for the same price, but the power pack is rated at 16/19V and 5500mAh. I tho...
@OliverSalzburg well i dont know what your doing, but i would suspect the possibility of stuff hanging up, still hanging out. with recent windows programs not fully stopping proper, as seen in the taskmanagers and resource monitor. Looking into what was/is still running when it was assumed it all stopped properly.
@Ramhound hey what were you saying , and what am i missing about that 6X ram question?
I feel the need to delete my comments, and add another layer of stuff besides, because people found jacking up the voltage may help too, and layers of user experineces. Plus getting it to "work" is one thing, making sure there isnt a single error ever is even more
Like this dude say "For some strange reason the old x58 chipset motherboards doesn't like when the all ram slots are populated with ram sticks, you'll need to leave the last one (6th slot empty), to achieve an RAM OC." ( i assume that is keeping it from running fast in tripple modes)
and "I suppose you'd managed your CPU OC to 4.13 by rising the BCLK, with that you also can OC your RAM, just try change the RAM multiplier (10-12-14...), to higher then you have now, then loose your RAM timings (EG. from 9-9-9-24 to 10-9-10-27), rise your DRAM Voltage and test your memory using memtest +86""
Any 6 modules can be really fun :-) and then huge modules besides, AND 9just to add to the problems) on a board that is pickey about it.
Plus in my comments, why he didnt buy tripple packages 3 to a pack, if there was an intention of running it in tripple
All SPECULATIONs that could go on forever paying with it, to get it working, and still leaving it a disaster if it doesnt work on defaults.
By the time he gets done fiddling with it, the ram slots (made in china) will be in pieces :-)
Or, i could delete all my comments, and replace it with : Find a combination that worked for 5-6 other people, and is on the compatability list too.
"Typically x58 supports 6x4GB for 24GB max. The OP is using higher capacity sticks than his board supports. " Okkkayy so he is 'not' breaking that limitation, because the modules are 4G
So your really supposed to buy a 2 pack for doing 1 dual, and a tripple pack for doing tripple. I dont know if they would actually Tweak it , or just test it that way.
thats the third users post that says it can come out of sleep badly via the ram too. He probably should have spent a week on the web , reading about other users experience before attempting the change.
oh! why does it act different when it is the same.
because shit dont work that way :-)
When i have to get a quad assembled with 2 2-packs i keep the reciept, do a lot of praying :-)
Sometimes it seems like you can get away with anything, like tossing in 2 sets of ram chunks you had laying around (different brand even). Sometimes I get a set designed to work together and it just doesnt, but another brand will.
The manufacture will test a few modules, and put it on the compatability list. then i attempt to apply the compatability list , but i cant buy what is ON it :-)
But did they think about this: what good is the compatability list, when a year later that module isnt made exactally the same way even :-(
I guess that is covered by the big number (not just the size, type, brand) that is on the list, the one you cant find a year later.
Hi... Something is annoying me... all of a sudden, my screenshot program isn't working - I went in to settings and it seems like almost all the hotkeys are being used by other apps... When I press the buttons, nothing happens, so, not sure what app is using them. Does anyone know how to find out?
without just randomly shutting down apps! (which I am not against, but, can't see many things actually running...)
There is a 3rd too, some really small thing from like nirsoft or ahk or something.
They do something like test, for the key like a brute force, providing very little information.
If some program install had a key set in its shortcut, tossed itself on the desktop or start menu, it could potentially setup a global key too.
I discovered some time back keyboard shortcuts are stored in URL and INK type files, and scanned when in the start menu and desktop. Weird to me, because that would mean they could end up there when i didnt put them there.
You'd think that if a key got assigned to some other thing, and your sure that some program is not in Focus, that something would Happen :-)
Before I start, let me inform you that I have been working as an IT Manager for large international companies for my whole life, and I have received masters degree from IT technology. I therefore believe, I am fully competent to do what am doing now. However, now I face an uneasy challenge which ...
that does sort of scary though considering I was going to buy a 40 bay enclosure (seen one for quite cheap) and try to build a new nas myself as I am getting fed up of many 4 bay ones...
that being said, his whole approach at the start... I don't think he knows what he is doing... but still, burning... that is crazy :/
Something is wrong with that question... you don't start out by saying.. "I am a professional masters degree xxx", "I build hundreds of xxx"...then... "Why are they catching fire"! He is leaving something out...
but oh well, would be interested to know how it turns out!
@Psycogeek just installed and ran... next thing I know, machine is going crazy, it pretty much just ran through every hotkey then froze whilst waiting for something... but I force closed it as it screwed so much up all ready :(
maybe it would work... but, I doubt it...
Why did you lock this!? What else can I do on a Saturday evening? Reading this is more fun than pretty much everything on TV tonight! :( Thanks spoil sport mods... — William Hilsum6 mins ago
there never has been a great way to detect them, even the ones that are fully controlled by windows (shorts and urls) should have some GUI method , by windows itself to discover them.
