The "which is it" question. "Nat does not increase security" & "Nat breaks some things and makes them harder to implement" (like direct connection) So which is it? it either is harder to get through or it is less secure, how could it be Both?

2:53 AM
Thats interesting
considering...

actually
I can see that being a useful feature with aerosnap
or dual screens

@HackToHell cool, now i can do "multiTouch" without a touchscreen

So you want two mice o_0 ?
@Psycogeek that's one nice use ;p

3:36 AM
Well i tried it using 2 mice, and Well, ever see how people drive when they are on the cell phone . . like that :-)

Two keyboards is a lot more fun, in our computer lab, we would attach the usb keyboards to someone else's and drive them nuts ;p

@HackToHell That would be more mean than a software prank, which can become predictable.

Ya, it's really fun, try it on someone else, besides everyone pulls out their LAN whenever they sense anything fishy, so the two keyboard thing rocks

back when mice had balls (not gonads) , a person couldnt tell a dirty mouse, from the prank "drunken Mouse" software

lol

4:01 AM
It is that special day, when pranks come into play, so many wicked ideas to do, might take more than a day to get through, how will I know what is true, when playing them on me can ensue, If my computer has any virus first, i could wait for a day to avoid the worst, then i am safe for another year , and doubble it up again i fear.

Deploying my annual pointless April Joke on Super User...

@TomWijsman It's the motto of Hogwarts in Latin, meaning A Sleeping Dragon is Never to be Tickled
@soandos That's their joke ?

@HackToHell Yeah, looked it up.

@HackToHell @TomWijsman, they also have google.com/js/reallyadvanced.html

@TomWijsman What we need is a super assanine question with upvotes, and a most rediculous and overly complex sounding answer, that cross refers to the Wiki for referance, also with big upvotes :-)

@soandos Filter by font, lol.

6:47 AM
Oh nevermind, we already have those

@Psycogeek where ?

@Psycogeek: You are free to type such an answer to my question...
@HackToHell Yeah, I just entered a random query to try the font feature. Where are all these Comic Sans websites to laugh at?!

@TomWijsman And I was looking for websites with dangy grammatical mistakes

What is the space called on the keyboard between the arrow keys and the home end and page up page down keys :-)

@Psycogeek Go for it! :D
Or, why are there no keys there. :)

6:52 AM

@HackToHell: Planned on something much longer, but I started too late on it.

@TomWijsman thats nuts, let me see if i can fix it for you

And this isn't as best as it could get, but good enough I guess for a nice read.
Would be fun if there were an equal length answer describing someone who has a similar problem, the things he tried and then what he eventually had to do.

Did you already try , pulling the plug? out of the bottom of it to allow it todrain?

I don't see a plug.

6:55 AM
Is it possible that you have a sucker fish?

No idea...

I think you need to disconect the web , while testing, it could be that you have weather 2.0 installed. While it is usefull to torrent specific weather to other locations, it has been known to start a data stream of weather that you have to task end it. on reboot it can start up again.

damn it, last year I had something all ready to post for this years April Fools day and I can't remember what it was :/

Stole @JourneymanGeek's crowbar ;p superuser.com/a/407201/71027

Q: What are the Windows G: through Z: drives used for?

Tom WijsmanIn Windows you have a C: drive. The first things labeled beyond that seems to be extra stuff. So my DVD drive is D: and if you put in a USB stick it becomes F:. And then some people also have A: and B:. But then, what and where are G: through Z: drives for? Is it possible to connect so many thi...

7:02 AM
On no unicorn strikes me !!

@HackToHell Had one on Meta.SO. :)
This is an image I made yesterday to summarize one of my answers... :/

Nice :)
@TomWijsman We can have drives with numerals right ? 1:\

@HackToHell I don't know... That's why I ask. :D

So it's not a joke ?

semi-joke, not looking for joke comments or joke answers though
@HackToHell: Oh my... Amazon links are broken...
Haha, going to use your answer as an example. :D

7:10 AM
@TomWijsman It works for me

@HackToHell: Ah, I think it's blocked in my hosts file maybe then...

@TomWijsman You are not pulling a joke on me are you ?

C:\Users\Tom>ping rads.stackoverflow.com
Ping request could not find host rads.stackoverflow.com. Please check the name and try again.

Yup, seems blocked. :)
@HackToHell I can't tell if I'm joking or not.

@TomWijsman <--------- Starts to drive me nuts

@HackToHell someonewhocares.org/hosts <--------- CTRL+F rads.stackoverflow.com
On first sight, the shock-sites part seems longer. Should do a diff and migrate the changes.
Gonna remove the rads part because that's not really useful...

7:16 AM
@TomWijsman Use Ghostery simple effective.
mashable.com 's joke is nice :)
Try it !!!

8:06 AM
@HackToHell Nope, my solution requires 0% extra computational power or storage on my computer and works more effective than Ghostery. :)
DNS Caching Server with its own Hosts file on a DD-WRT FTW... :D

8:21 AM
@HackToHell There is no way that they would make that available to the public, from Potentiokinetic data you can recreate the original information by using a kinetic inversion overlay artifact algorithm. It would be a serious breech of security.

@Psycogeek It's an joke !

@HackToHell And so is getting any usefull data out of a few re-assigned bad sectors of a drive :-)

@TomWijsman Well the browser has to try and reach 127.0.0.1 everytime, so it will have >0 cpu usage
@Psycogeek What is Potentiokinetic data ?

@HackToHell part of the joke.

@Psycogeek I thought you were talking real stuff !

8:26 AM
@HackToHell no, i just didnt want to sign-up there to post it :-)

8:56 AM
@HackToHell: Incorrect.
0.0.0.0 ;)

@TomWijsman You replaced 127.0.0.1 with 0.0.0.0, you really care abt performance ;p

9:11 AM
@HackToHell so THATS why i have a crowbar ;p
and.. thats right out of an 80s adventure game

9:50 AM
@HackToHell No, there's a version with 0.0.0.0. But yeah, I do look at the details... :D

@Mods - I don't suppose you can undelete this - superuser.com/questions/265114/… just for today!? Can't remember the thing I wanted to do this year, so, why not just re live last years!

@JourneymanGeek Exactly !!

10:17 AM
I also didn't realise how damned scary that knife looks ;p

Eureka, that's it , I made it all the way through, I am now done 1112.net/lastpage.html , If anything should change, I can pick it up on my RSS feed of the whole web wholeweb.com

11:35 AM
here is a good one ""Cloned beef and other products have since been regularly consumed in the US without distinction.[citation needed] issue."" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloning Totally incorrect. it costs some 15,000-20,000 to clone a cattle, I have never seen a feedlot full of cloned cattle, the FDA made a statement in 2008 not 2006, and cloneing has a failure rate of 89-1
This leaves out that basically speaking no animal whatsoever has actually been "cloned" from the original idea of cloning via DNA, every sucessfull mamalian clone has been done by using an Egg originally , and Jamming dna into the egg, pretty much similar to how a sperm gets there in the first place.

yay 1K !! 4k to go ....
So true xkcd.com/806

11:51 AM
@HackToHell funny. When our ISP goes down here, we call and they say "nope nothing wrong here, must be you" about 20 minutes later , call again "sorry the quantity of calls is high, you will have to wait 60minutes to speak to someone" , See told ya :-) it was not me.

@Psycogeek The same here,they will start "your computer has an virus","change your cables","Reboot the modem","The computer now".....
This is TOTALLY nuts !! i am seeing cats everywhere !!
http://adblockforchrome.blogspot.in/2012/03/inturdusing-catblock.html

@HackToHell Dancing cats, that is why i had the addblock in the first place :-)

No !!!!!!!!!
you hate catssss

@HackToHell No, i just had one for dinner :-)

WTF ! U EAT CATS ?

12:05 PM
@HackToHell no, but i am carniverous, i ate rosy once

@Psycogeek phew, rosy ?

@HackToHell rosey was my friends favorite pig.

@Psycogeek Nvr eaten Pork b4

@HackToHell well you can eat pet chickens?

If my cat does not first

12:09 PM
grow them from little tiny chicks breaking out of eggs, feed them every day, keep them safe and warm, then chop thier heads off and eat them.

;p I prefer fishes :D

lol

1:01 PM
What is that?

@DanielBeck happy unicorn

@Psycogeek No, clippy unicorn. But still...

i think it is actually names Clipicorn

Ah crap.
Totally forgot what day it is.

@DanielBeck what? I just shoved clippy into the PSU to test
@DanielBeck Its your wifes anniversary? and you forgot ?
its Terry Nichols ( Timothy McVeigh's partner in crime) birthday

1:54 PM
@DanielBeck I too had that ;p

2:13 PM
April 1st, a custom that I had not heard of before: " In France and Italy, the custom calls for children to tack paper fish on each other's back while shouting "April fish" in the local tongue. That would be "poisson d'avril" in French and "pesce d'aprile" in Italian. Kids have been known to stick the fish on adults (who are also known to participate), but only on those they know well. "

2:25 PM
lol
ya

3:17 PM
@Sathya It Is a bug, fact: The square roots of the perfect squares (1, 4, 9, 16, etc.) are integers. Computers put some limit on precision take 1/3 is .33333333Forever, not stopping somewhere. When the calculation is displayed or that is beyond the precision that the calculation was completed in, there is a Flaw, and the results will be wrong, the results are wrong, and the display it is showing makes that worse.
Floating point caculations or not , the answer was integer. there are many many mathamatically inclined individuals that understand floating point precision, and how to trundicate TO the precision it was calculated in , to provide a correct answer . stackoverflow.com/questions/4428215/…
There are an equal number of computer inclined individuals, and programmer, who would defend the right for the computer to be incorrect, based on binary, floating point, and whatever other La-Te-Da bs they heard floating about the web. Information which gets so Bold as to state that the computer is infalable, and the floating point is MORE accurate. The simple point is that is what floating point precision is all about. They quote 50 pages of stuff, and did not get the first principal

3:38 PM
Time and time again, microsoft calculations are rounded wrong, and trundicated incorrectally blogs.office.com/b/microsoft-excel/archive/2008/04/10/… , And time and time again, they are told , and a computer genious comes along and explains (for them) that They are correct.
but 4.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 (and forever) , is not 4.99999999999 , it is 5.0000000000000 It will always be 5 and no ammount of justification can change incorrect precision vrses trundication, and rounding error.

@Psycogeek I know it's a bug, your answer however is more or a less a rant about M$FT sucks, can't do hjack, computers can't do divide by zero rather than focussing on why calculator is returning the wrong results. Now if you'd just put the chat messages your entered in your answer, I'd have declined the flag

@JourneymanGeek what knife?

@Sathya The answer deserves deletion. it is just impossible to explain to any persons who has heard the layers of incorrect information on the web, that the computer could be flawed, or that the use of floating point by microsoft is not always correct. It wont go anywhere , anyway. It is that "something is wrong on the web" but it is wrong on the "whole web" :-) try and mess with that.

@Psycogeek hehe

3:50 PM
@Sathya The only acceptable answer, will be to put the same stuff up we have heard 100 times before, and watch the Up-votes rise.

4:26 PM
Which is more crasy? the square root of 4 is 2 , or it is 1.999999999999999999999999999999999999991835153? Now reverse the process to check the work, and thousands of years of math, go up in smoke, when super genius comes along and says , The square root of 4 is less than 2. LOL Even though through pages of FP explaination, no one ever said that.

@Sathya: We switched places... :)

5:01 PM
so i guess discussing how to safely remove parts of the windows component store , post instalation, are also out of the picture :-)

@Psycogeek well, that was expected..

@Sathya it would be impossible to work with that, in this format. it would truely be a bloody mess, requiring long collaborative processes, that would be unsuitable for general viewing. But it would be cool to cover it, so i can get some tips and tricks.

@TomWijsman congrats! My activity has been rather low, except for clearing flags, which I seem to clear off about 10-20 a day.

5:20 PM
LOL , the system now "trust me to edit post , without peer review" , I wouldnt trust me to edit, but a computer would :-)

Q: How can I change the UI language to English?

Ivo FlipseI set up an account of Windows 8 for my girl friend only to come to the shocking conclusion that it thinks its from Japan (or well somewhere strange): I noticed she had filled in Swaziland as her location on her Windows Live profile, but I don't recall them speaking Japanese there. Meanwhile...

Someone go fix my problem already

@IvoFlipse Are you there?

I are

... I don't have it installed here, so, may be talking BS... can you click the start button and type "regional" and see if the regional options come up... not really sure it will work being japanese
then, hopefully you can change from there - if not, i'll try a few things...

I have so much to learn, that I don't have time to learn Japanese
@WilliamHilsum it wasn't under the region settings
annoying thing is, she's asleep and I can't get in on her account
it uses her Live account password :\

5:30 PM
ok... well, I have it installed on vmware workstation... forgot about that... having a fiddle now

I'll move to the laptop

Can you get to this screen / had a look around here? -

that's all good on mine, but I can't get to it on my GFs account right now
I'll try making another account

no problem... didn't want to write it as an answer as I can't easily test this at the moment... but, let me know if it doesn't work or if you need any help later

Ok at least its reproducible on a local account too
so it seems unrelated to the Live accounts

@WilliamHilsum if you get one, make sure to send me a copy
nothing strange to see there

'Ello people.

Hi @Gigili
That message at the bottom should be related to my problem though

@IvoFlipse and is the metro screen on that account in Japanese or English?

I asked a question, I am having a hard time understanding the last two comments.
Anyone can help me?
For instance, where is event log
Oh, the last one is edited.

5:47 PM
@WilliamHilsum Japanese

@Gigili the event log is part of the administrative tools
@Gigili try putting this into a RUN window ---> eventvwr.msc /s

@IvoFlipse Got it...

it is the language pack that is installed... go to control panel > Language, go to english and click options on the right... at the top you will see "Windows display language", you need to basically turn on English... or install the English language pack if it isn't there - but, I haven't done this yet/can't say for certain

basically, I tried installing chinese and it just says that the language pack is not available for me, but, it looks like that is how you do it

@WilliamHilsum It must be because I upgraded, rather than doing a fresh install

who knows... but damn... let me know if that works and I will write it up as an answer.

@Psycogeek Thank you very much.

damn I should have made a screenshot
yeah @WilliamHilsum that works

5:54 PM
cool

Press Windows key: type "add a language", from that dialogue, remove the weird Japanese/Chinese languages and add the ones you do want
You do need to sign out for it to take affect, or at least I don´t see a ´confirm´ action anywhere
I stole their title @WilliamHilsum :P
but you go ahead and post it as an answer

@IvoFlipse well, I know you have already got the answer now... tried to write it with as much detail as possible

@WilliamHilsum yeah, its a great answer, just the way I like it :)
Now we just need to kick MS's ass on Google, hehe

is it just me or is there no easy setting to change my IE10 search engine to Google?

6:12 PM
I just shut the VM!
one second
metro IE or normal IE?

is there a difference?

only used the metro one for a few seconds, so, I wouldn't have a clue on how to do it there
but, I am guessing that if you do it in the main one, it will save for metro
looking now

but its not even listed on the front page

6:14 PM
damn... you beat me

that's just evil

well... ok, not that easy... have to click the add button on search... but, at least you have it now

I am guessing once it is launched for real, Google will have one of their "make default" buttons on their home page

What the hell ^^

6:16 PM
yeah, I couldn't test the chinese language here, so, I changed my language to Hebrew... gave you the link from there, sorry
mind you, the hebrew msn home page has 2 women on the tabs... I think I prefer that version!

There it is

Q: How to change the Internet Explorer 10 default search engine to Google?

Ivo FlipseWhen I'm browsing I always use the address bar to search, but when I do this in Internet Explorer 10, I get taken to the default search engine Bing. So I started looking in the Internet Options to see if I could change it, but I couldn't find the right option. There's no clear way to add Goo...

Free rep :P

done! I need it... I've hardly had any time to be on here

@IvoFlipse The google search link is right there on the first page 4 lines down here in america with english?

@Psycogeek Ah so it seems, I couldn't find it on my laptop
Though I simply wanted a quick line anyway :P

@IvoFlipse yes sure, worst researched question, and dupe of the week :-)

6:31 PM
@Psycogeek dupe? I tried looking, but guess I didn't look hard enough

Q: Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 - Adding search engines

PeterI would like to know how to add Wikipedia and Google in the search bar in Microsoft Internet Explorer 9. Where do I need to click ? Internet Explorer 9 is really cool and fast but I have this problem...

Actually IE9 still let's you do it through the regular options according to Google

I should vote to close :-) But i think it is more important to have the IE10 WIn8 And "How" because showing up in a google search is important.

@Psycogeek Someone looking for the IE10 answer would never go looking for the IE9 solution
neither did I

And any other variations of various questions, for the purpose Of showing up in the google search engine more often.

6:35 PM
@Psycogeek Well I simply asked them because it bothered me, what search engine do or say is secondary

@IvoFlipse I am only talking about having variety in questions, so when some person Using google would search, superuser would come up in search.
Basically I never even saw a single search result come up for superuser for superusers first 1.5 years of operation.

6:50 PM
superuser might show up around 3rd or 4th page, for many of the searches a person would use looking for technical answers. the first page as we know is half spam and junk, by the second, page there is a lot of reading, and possible answers. By the time i would have got to the pages of search that superuser would be on, i was done.

7:02 PM
I've been away all day. So someone explain this Unicorn. :|
Clippy got a new costume?

7:13 PM
@Bibhas I dont know, but they have it all disassembled meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/127701/… before they even see it. :-)

Oh, they don't have it all disassembled. We made it extra hard for them this year :)

8:11 PM
Hey I was wondering if someone could explain or give me pointers to a lp2t/ipsec thing I'm trying to do with android.
Basically, I've configured a linux host to run with openVPN, I've generated a p12 key, installed the file on an android tablet.
However, I can't seem to connect correctly. On my android device I've attempted to add a l2tp/ipsec CRT for certificate based vpn, I've set up the l2tp secret as per the cert, user certificate and certificate authority.
I have no idea how to debug this or trouble shoot. Android just says "failed." Any pointers on where I can start looking would be a
