I like how someone's annoyed because I removed the word 'darned' from a post - I was actually just reuploading the image (as per a lot of my edits these days) and saw it as a minor edit to make while I was there

A: Do we care about edit flooding? Should we be doing anything?

If the text is quite understandable, I don't see the point in correcting grammar, or making posts "politer". Is writing correct English a demand for posting on SU? No. The texts should be edited for making the technical descriptions more understandable, and not for prettifying the language used....

it's nothing to do with making it politer- my colleagues around me (I'm in China) didn't know what it meant, so I removed it. We're not all native English speakers

I'll continue to simplify like that when it feels right...

yeah. i wish that were more clear as well. you could put in a feature-request for that on Meta Super User or on Meta Stack Overflow

so I get the feeling a lot of people are seeing my revisions and thinking "oh, such a minor thing, how dare you insult my grammar with such a petty edit!" when actually the main focus was on reuploading their 2-year-old imageshack screenshot or whatever

I come across broken images all the time recently, which is what motivates me to prevent it proactively

make sure you say in the edit reason what you did, including fixing the image. then they can't complain. i seem to recall you usually do that though
