Looks like svgur.com/i/ isn't doing too well. All the images using that on the hat list are broken. "This application is temporarily over its serving quota. Please try again later."
I got the Carnaval hat but wasn't expecting it today.
It appears edits need not be on consecutive days.
Dec 16: various edits
Dec 17: various edits
Dec 18: edits ONLY on own posts
Dec 19: NO EDITS
Dec 20: edits ONLY on own posts
Dec 21: various edits
Dec 22: various edits
@Panda I agree. I have edits (not counting my own posts) on Dec 16, 17, 19, 20, 21 and 22 UTC time, where the days are also not consecutive.
The clues to the triggers are hinted at in the images: the Carnaval hat has 6 feathers, but often the action required isn't clear (editing in this case).
@Scratte Makes it much easier to get the hat, without the need for the edits to be consecutive. Otherwise, I would have had to wait for 3 more days. ;)
@TobyMak Right, seems like the updated theory's more or less the right one!
A few days ago, I solicited help on finding ways to prevent (or at least make it harder) for folks to cheat at Hat Dash. I would like to give a shout out to all users who have helped thus far - you can see them in the new White Hat Hall of Fame which is at the bottom of the Hat Dash Leaderboard. ...
@YaakovEllis just for fun I have been trying the bot approach to the game. Not caring about the leaderboard so I am fine with the ban status, but I was wondering if it would be possible to get the not-logged in game to still report if your actions would get you banned. The url obviously does not work for logged-out users, so it is kinda impossible to know if something would work. That said, it is fine if you won't - right now I just wonder how far the bot will go.
I don't care to be unbanned since it is not my idea to get to the leaderboard in the first place. I would only like to know if the game did detect something weird or not
Basically, I want to know if the game detected that it was played by a bot.
@IanCampbell Awesome. I'm cheering for you on the leaderboard. I feel compelled, since I tested a hat out on you :)
@IanCampbell I have one in Java. But I doubt it would be a good fit for you.. it also requires some non-negligible work in order to prepare a post. The only real issue with it is that I have no Answer to it.
@AJ You can order Theater movies at home (Disclaimer: I don't work in a Theater, just answering the question). With limits on capacity and a business model based on selling seats the two are juxtaposed.
@YaakovEllis Had the time to check on a not-logged-in game run what the /hat-dash/end endpoint does. I saw it returns the endgame message. If you could add that info too it would be nice - as I said, I don't plan to use it on the "logged-in" game.
@Panda Weird coincidence, you tried a bot while I was trying another one. Think I got banned because of that, but I suspect you have a point on the "totalJumps" variable.
@YaakovEllis Looks like I got banned again but there's been no white hat cheating on my end, just legit games. Feel free to message me on Twitter again if you want to discuss!
@YaakovEllis I have been banned from the leaderboard and am unsure why. To my knowledge I have played fully legitimately and I am curious what it is that I did to get banned.
@Anonymous maybe. Feels weird though, it sure doesn't seem like I had a 10 second period with no obstacles :/ then again I was playing a lotta games in a row so maybe it could have happened without my realizing it
@Anonymous naw, just did a check on myself using the /status endpoint that yaakov posted in the se meta thread for leaderboard refresh.
truly, my dreams of being the biggest time waster on hat-dash across se have been shattered to pieces. truly this is a sad time for becky, and therefore, the world.
